Bret Michaels Is Suing the Tony Awards

Bret Michaels almost died last year of a brain hemorrhage--and the Poison singer thinks the extreme condition was due to an injury sustained while performing at the 2009 Tony Awards.

Michaels filed a lawsuit against Tony Award Productions and CBS in L.A. County Superior Court on Friday, reports TMZ.com. He is asking for unspecified damages.

Michaels was hit in the head by a piece of the set at the end of his performance two years ago; he was hospitalized for a broken nose and cut lip after the show. Now, the 'Rock of Love' star believes the life-threatening brain hemorrhage that happened six months later was a direct result of that injury.

"One of the most common causes of this type of hemorrhage is head trauma -- exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards," the lawsuit stated.

It continues: "Through his sheer will to live, to see his children grow up, [he] was able to survive this trauma."

They were in full and total control of the situation controling the props on the fly responsibility and negligence causing serious ijusry falls on those not only in operation of the fly rail but those calling the ques one thing Ive learned in a situation like this is the quality of employee and staff lacking professionalism on their behalf knowing not only how to operate the system in place but to effectivly put in place all safty measures to never allow an accident like this to occur
its something that you just dont allow to happen above all on that rail. you dont send in a prop on someones head

Seems to me the Tony Awards should have offered and paid all of his medical damages as a result of this accident. Sad that they have to be taken to Court to do the right thing in this issue..........

Brett should go away for awhile. I would like to see him without a hat and scarf on his head. Why does he wear both???
Happy about his being well but we would not miss him if we never saw him again.

No matter how many time I watch the video I end up on the floor laughing. The only thing that was hurt was his precious ego. EVERYONE else walked off the stage at the same time as they obviously rehearsed to do. Not Bret! That idiot consciously decided to stay out on stage to soak up more applause. Instant karma = good times.

If he would've hit his mark on the stage instead of trying to steal camera time, he wouldn't have gotten hit. That's rule number one in the theater...hit your mark on the stage. He's just trying to get more attention.

bret michaels was a physical train wreck before this incident. hitting his head on multiple headboards and doing drugs most of his adult life plus being a diabetic can weaken vacular walls. he's a tool...go away!

You don't get a Brain Hemmorage from breaking your nose and getting a cut lip. It wouldn't have anything to do with those years of snorting cocaine up your nose, or any of the other illegal substances you probably injested, inhaled, shot up while on tour would it? The Tony's should turn around with a counter suit for this frivoulousness. And since he can't prove that the specific injury caused it, and if they are ever able to prove substance abuse...I think they would win. Plus he walked into the set...they didn't hit him with it.
