Snoop Dogg Accused of Glorifying Underage Drinking
Snoop Dogg is being
accused of promoting underage drinking, by "alcohol industry watchdog" the Marin Institute, for his endorsement of Blast by Colt 45.
The group is accusing Snoop of using his popularity to encourage minors to drink the beverage, produced by the Pabst Brewing Company. In an attempt to halt the production of beverages like Blast, which contain both alcohol and soda, Marin reached out to California State Senator Alex Padilla to ban the drink and others like it.
"While the federal government was shutting down dangerous caffeinated alcohol, Pabst Brewing Company was cooking up 'Blast,' a super sweet, fruit-flavored, supersized alcopop containing as much alcohol as four and a half cans of beer," said Marin CEO Bruce Lee Livingston. "Joose, Four Loko, Tilt and now Blast are racing to the bottom to harm youth. Senator Padilla's bill should limit such products to one standard-size drink."
Livingston argues that Snoop's affiliation with the brand is directly related to the injuries reported by numerous college students between of the ages of 17 and 19. The institute reported that more than 2 million youth illegally drink alcohol in the state of California, costing the state $7.3 billion a year.
Last year, the federal government banned seven alcoholic beverages containing caffeine, including Four Loko and Joose, but Marin hopes to get more off of the market. Blast, a fruit flavored drink, contains 12 percent alcohol in a 23 ounce can and features labels resembling bubble gum wrappers, which some argue directly targets young people. The drink is scheduled to hit shelves next month.
Snoop has yet to release a statement on the matter.

Snoop may be in rehab. I wrote the newest book on rehab, which does not involve institutions. Attain sobriety on your own terms. Charlie did it. Read "SOS Safely Obtaining Sobriety." Just search the name. It's all over the place and it works! George Legacy
I said he is no role model, nothing he does, my son would do.

Snoop makes music for ADULTS, nothing he does is for kids. Its up to the PARENT to supervise and be aware of what their child is doing, its certainly not Snoops fault.

Like they don't see worse every time they turn on the tv or see a movie. Take responsibility for your kids and stop looking to blame everyone else.

What we need to realize is that alcohol is not the problem. Control is the problem. If college students would limit consumption of such beverages to just one, this wouldn't be nearly as big a problem. Nothing about these beverages is illegal.

The drive-by shooting culture glorifies alot of illegal activity and crime. It appeals to much of the Af-Am population that use tax dollars to purchase the CDs.

1st of all, who said Snoop Dogg was a role model? Anyone who believe Snoop Dogg or anyone else like him whether they be a singer, rapper, actor or athlete is a role model needs their head examined. I love Snoop's music and I respect his talent and rapping ability. However, Snoop has the right to endorse any product he wishes. Once again it is up to the parents of under age kids to monitor what they consume and to be their role models.

Im so sick of seeing these articles where people are trying to point fingers at celebrities. They are Entertainers, thats it. Not Role Models, Not your babysitter. Nothing they do is intended for anyone under 18 because children arent their target market or audience. If a child even knows who snoop dogg is then that is the parents fault. Raise YOUR Kids, Calvin will raise HIS kids and those are the ONLY kids he is responsible for.
