Scarlett and Sean Make It Official at Reese's Wedding

If Reese Witherspoon was starring in a movie this weekend, it would've been titled 'Legally Married,' and by all accounts it was a smash hit. The 35-year-old beauty, who tied the knot with Jim Toth on Saturday, invited a parade of A-listers to watch her I do's, and two of them, Scarlett Johansson and date Sean Penn, darn near stole the show.

"Scarlett is Jim's client, but no one, including the bride, knew she would have turned up with Sean Penn," a friend of Scarlett's tells me. "Turning up at a wedding with your boyfriend is definitely a huge statement, especially that wedding. What it's doing is announcing to the whole of Hollywood that they are serious."

Reese and Jim wed in a private ceremony at Reese's ranch in Ojai, Calif., on Saturday with pre-wedding cocktail taking place before the 20-minute ceremony.

Reese wore a gown designed by Monique Lhuillier, and both her daughter and son with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe -- Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7 -- were part of the nuptials.

Also in attendance at the private wedding were Renee Zellweger, Tobey Maguire, Robert Downey Jr. and Alyssa Milano.

Sean, 50, and Scarlett, 26, were first spotted together earlier this year at a party in LA celebrating 'Black Swan.' They were then seen eating together in public with her legs draped over his lap. In early March, they jetted down to Mexico for a whirlwind daylong trip. Both are coming off unsuccessful marriages --to Ryan Reynolds and Robin Wright.

Both camps have stayed remarkably mum about the relationship, but there have been reports that "S-Squared" are next planning a trip to Haiti in the spring. The appearance at Reese and Jim's wedding appears to have been their official coming out to their Hollywood friends.

"Scarlett is head over heals in love with Sean," a friend of the actress tells me. "She normally tries to hide away from public attention, but when she's with Sean she doesn't care."

Ja...Yule Kilcher, an old Swiss homesteader told me that many years ago in Alaska, him being the grandfather of Jewel. I met the mother of my kids when she was nineteen and I was twenty-seven. Do the math. Then again when James Woods was asked at fifty-two how he could marry an eighteen year old, he told the reporter "Hey...you would if you could." That was about fifteen years ago and they're still married. I just don't know how Scarlett could be with a guy who's pals with Hugo Chavez, best buddy of Mommar Gad-daffy and loon of South America. Bail, Scarlett!!!!!

@Ofalaska, James Woods is not married. He briefly dated a 19-year-old a few years back, but dropped her when she wore a micro-mini to his brother's funeral.

So....why doesn't Pop Eater refer to Scarlet as a 'Toy Girl?' When Pop Eater prints stories about Madonna and her younger men, or for that matter ANY older woman and a younger man, the guy is always called her 'Toy Boy!'

Glad she's showing her affection for him, because in the years she was married to Ryan "Sexy Beast" Reynolds, you could barely tell. They were never out and about or affectionate. Good Riddance to Scarlet! Now Ryan can go on to better things...Like (crosses fingers) Sandra Bullock!! :)

He's worked his butt off for Haiti, and he's there for a lot of other charities, as well. But in relationships, he's reputed to be hot tempered. He has a certain charm, but he's left his youth a long way behind. She'd better think about herself at 40 with him at 64, or her at his age now and him then at 74. That's a very big spread.

Sorry Karen, but your judgement's way off as they're closer to epitomizing a ridiculous couple than a "cute" couple. Penn is a brilliant actor and impressive humanitarian, but he was a pretty obvious weirdo 30 years ago and little has changed since other than people now realize that he also has talent. Johansson is a beautiful, curvy and arrogant woman who is largely overrated in Hollywood circles because of her stunning looks. Women tend to be eternally blind and self-serving about such things, but she needs to ask Madonna and Robin Wright what being around this guy on a daily basis is like over time. Trust me, no one will be discussing these two as a couple three years from now regardless of what highs their relationship supposedly experiences in the interim.
