'Scared' Denise Richards Ups Security After Charlie Sheen's 'Vile' Attack

Denise Richards is taking no chances when it comes to protecting herself and her daughters following Charlie Sheen's "vile" public attack on her, with sources telling me the 'Starship Troopers' beauty has "increased her security" at home.

"Denise and her girls live a simple life," an insider tells me. "She wants Sam and Lola to have normal lives, but after the recent threats and verbal attacks, she has increased her security. When you are dealing with a mad man, it's better to be safe than sorry."

We became aware of the most recent attacks from Charlie via Twitter, when he called Denise a "traitor and loser whore" and accused her of stealing his dogs. Friends of the pair tell me the hate isn't new, however -- it's been going on for months.

"How Denise has managed to keep all this secret for so long is a miracle," a friend of the former couple tells me. "If Charlie is willing to put those evil tweets out in public, you can only imagine what he has called Denise in private."

All of this started after Denise refused to allow Charlie to use their daughters as a photo opportunity in a TV interview he set up after his two sons with Brooke Mueller were removed from his custody last month. Since then, he has been on the attack, and it doesn't look like it will end any time soon.

"Denise has learned how to deal with the name calling, but once you start tweeting pictures of yourself with knives and saying you wished someone would die it's a totally different game," the pal says. "Denise is no longer angry -- she's scared."

Sheen needs professional help in a controlled environment and probably to be on anti-psychotic meds for the rest of his days, which hopefully won't be many because I for one am weary beyond belief of hearing about him. Everywhere you turn these days, it's Charlie Sheen, Charlie Sheen, Charlie Sheen!

I'm tired of people attacking Denise Richards! This woman probably fears for her life and those of her children. It seems she's damed if she does and damned if she doesn't, where some of you are concerned. She did NOTHING wrong! NOTHING! And yet, the women-haters here have decided that because she initially married Sheen, then had kids, then had a reality show, that she's lower than dust. It's Sheen who's the nut job. He's also dangerous to both himself and others around him, Trust me, this saga isn't going to end well.

This man (boy) should NOT be allowed to preform on DWTS. It is a family
show and he has showed unbelievable bad behavior in the past weeks.

Hasn't ABC seen his picture of a woman grinding up against him and his
stupid lust smirk ?? He has no respect for women and has NO BUSINESS on
the show. I hope the audience Boos him and he is left in disgrace !!

I think Denise tried to stay neutral about Charlie because she feared how nuts he would go if she said anything negative towards him. She knows how crazy he is and doesn't want her or the kids to be physically harmed by him. 20 years ago he " accidently " shot Kelly Preston when they were dating, last year he held a knife to his wife Brooke...This guy is WACKO from way back. Also years ago I read that his upbringing was very strange...his mother used to walk around the house and cook dinner in the nude. He's obviously bi-polar and needed mental help as a kid but then his homelife might have made things worse.

Poor Denise. I'm with her. Charlie has really gone off the edge on this one, much like his 2 cars that 'mysteriously' went off a clift within a week of each other.

She has every right to protect herself.

Notice she said, 'upset' not surprised. Charlie Sheen is a vile piece of CRAP. His poor kids. Too bad Denise and that other woman cannot be arrested for BAD TASTE resulting in a horrible parent for a father! Seems those stupid women should take some of the blame.
