Jessica Simpson and Fiance: 'We Might Elope'

After the media frenzy surrounding her first marriage, it looks like Jessica Simpson might opt for a quieter wedding to fiance Eric Johnson.

"No date has been set," the singer and designer dished to UsMagazine.com about her upcoming wedding plans. "We've both been married before. We're enjoying our commitment to each other. We want to take our time."

Johnson popped the question to Simpson in November, after just six months of dating. Though no plans have been set, Simpson revealed she's excited to bring her fashion sense to the occasion.

"I will be part of designing my own wedding gown. We might elope if it gets to that point," she said.

Simpson revealed the pair doesn't let the stress of wedding planning or the chaos of Hollywood get to them. "We're very relaxed," she said. "It takes a lot to get us stressed out. We talk through everything. You'll see him off in the corner, and what's Eric doing? He's just meditating."

Though her schedule can be hectic at times, Simpson claims she's a homebody when she gets the chance.

"In my downtime, I'm wearing sweats and on my couch catching up on TV shows," she revealed. "My fiance is really into art, and I am, as well. We've been watching a lot of fun documentaries and going to art galleries and hanging out with some cool painters."

Does she ever think Johnson will help out with her own career or fashion endeavors? Not so much.

"No," she said. "Eric's a great guy. He's taking art classes at UCLA. He's very artistic. It's nice to have an artistic athlete. You don't find that too much."

You beat me to the punch :) We do live in a great country when someone who is about as bright as a bag of rocks and only marginally talented can get rich and famous. For her sake it is good that her career and money is managed by others.

Why not elope on a slow boat to China. Then stay and irritate the Chinese for a few years or so.

I hope she does elope it will keep the media out of something they don't belong at anyway. If the media only showed up when they were invited I'd have a whole nuther opinion. Unfortunately, it seems that the media feels they have the right to be there and any person of note's private event is fair game, until they learn to have respect, this is how it will be. I don't care who one is, people should be allowed to have their private events in peace.

There is no way Papa Joe or Uncle Homer will let this publicity opportunity go. Jess has no singing or acting career left, so she needs to keep her name in the spotlight to sell "Jessica's Junque".
