Lady Gaga Sings with Mariachi Band at Surprise Birthday Party

Lady Gaga celebrated her 25th birthday yesterday in a very low-key and intimate fashion.

UsMagazine.com reports that Gaga's friends threw her a surprise birthday party at a Mexican restaurant called La Cita Bar in Los Angeles.

She was reportedly dressed in a tight shimmering black dress with her blonde hair styled like a beehive. And with around 60 of her friends cheering on, Gaga took to the stage and sang with the restaurant's mariachi band.

The birthday girl sang several songs including hits by Motley Crue and Madonna, as well as some of her own numbers.

A source is quoted saying, "She was onstage for most of the night performing for all her friends. No one knew she was going to go up there and perform with them. I think she just loves to be on stage and doing what she does so well."

Gaga had several birthday cakes for the special occasion, and it was reported that when she was not performing, the 'Paparazzi' singer was mingling with her friends and the crowd at the restaurant.

Gaga did a countdown to her birthday on Twitter. She wrote on Tuesday night, "Drawing on table at restaurant. If I had to give it all back, but got to keep my fans, that'd be ok."

The drawing? Hearts surrounding a special message: "Happy Birthday Me!"

She later tweeted, "I woke up to chicken and waffles in bed, pink tulips, + little monster bday videos. I love you! I was #bornthisday but u were #bornthisway."
