Elton John is the latest in a list of celebrities joining in on the 'Glee' debate.
The legendary musician appeared on Jimmy Fallon's show last night to discuss, among other things, some artists' strong feelings about keeping their music off the show.
John, whose song 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' was featured on the FOX hit's second season, called out Kings of Leon for refusing to let 'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy use their song 'Use Somebody' on the show.
"There's a big debate going on about the 'Glee' thing at the moment," said John. "A lot of bands say they don't want their stuff on 'Glee.' It's like, 'Lighten up, you a**holes.'"
"This is a compliment, also it sends a positive message out. What the hell is wrong with, you guys? 'Oh, we don't want our music played.' Well, Kings of Leon, lighten up guys, c'mon. Listen, when someone wants to do your song, it's a compliment."
John isn't the only celeb with strong feelings about the issue. In March, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl announced that he, too, had refused Murphy's request to use his songs on 'Glee,' and spoke out in support of Kings of Leon's choice.
"[Murphy] is so offended that we're not, like, begging to be on his f**king show," said Grohl. "F**k that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do 'Glee.'"
Oh well, they (Glee producers) asked and were refused. So what, if you don't want your songs on Glee, who cares and who's to know? I think Glee is a pretty terrific show and watch it regularly. I think it revives some of the more 'forgotten' songs.
I applaud Kings of Leon. What ever the reason was they didn't want their song on Glee, it was their decision to make. I admire them for sticking to their guns and not selling out. It certainly isn't Elton Johns call, so he should keep his nose out of it. I think the show stinks. The Kings of Leon are fabulous.
To paraphrase Mark Twain, principles are easy to stick to when you have a full stomach. Fame is fleeting, and in 5 years the Kings might be begging for any kind of attention. But hey, it's their decision. And say what you will about Elton John, but there's no denying that he has had a long productive career.... and he just might be right.
Glee has an agenda. That agenda is Pro Homosexual. When artists refuse to allow their music on other shows that are neutral, they don't get blasted. C'mon, you have Elton John defending Glee.
More and more parents are censoring from their children for its homosexual content. The show is on at the time young adults are watching. Don't try to cram your agend on a show that actually had a good buzz when it came out. As a viewer, I have the right to change the channel as have millions of other viewers. That's the great thing about this country!
And the vast majority of television, books, radio, movies, etc., are pushing a HETEROSEXUAL agenda, despite the fact that it's not representative of reality in any way, shape or form...
Not everyone is a sellout. Some musicians are actually artists and respect their music as an art. Don't give in to the pop culture pressure to sellout!
Where do you get your information from? Even if that is true, who cares! Its a great show with talented young people and it brings joy to many, me included. This show has done a lot of good for the Arts in schools. Long may it reign!!!!!!!!!!
Elton, I love you dearly but shut up, if they don't want their songs on glee big deal, personally i am tired of Glee, gay characters don't bother me but it has just gotten to be all about that especially now making the girls lesbians, it's just done downhill, Ryan Murphy is a spoiled baby and if he doesn't get what he wants he cries fowl all over the place.
"Glee" is not gay and enough with this obsession with the gay agenda. This is what conservatives say, when confronted with minorities asking for equal rights. If Kings of Leon don't want to do "Glee", it's in their right, but don't turn this into a debate about gays, because it only exposes bigotry.

LOL - and it figures he's asking them to lighten up a**holes.
From a business stand point: How stupid to not want your music reintroduced, and to a larger audience, thus promoting more sales of your CDs.

Kings of Leon have every right to say no. Maybe the Queen of Glee needs to lighten up. I'm so tired of hearing about this.
