'The Doctors' Star Investigated By California Medical Board

The doctor is in -- but not for long, it seems.

RadarOnline.com reports that Robert Lucas, featured on CBS hit 'The Doctors,' is being investigated by the California Physician Assistant Committee in an attempt to determine whether or not Lucas is fit to practice medicine.

Lucas, a physician's assistant to plastic surgeon Dr. Drew Ordon, was arrested twice for DUI in 2008 and pleaded guilty each time.

Lucas paid a hefty fine, spent three weeks behind bars and was ordered to serve five years probation.

In the request handed down to the medical board, California's attorney general cited unlawful use of alcohol, conduct that would warrant denial of a certificate, general unprofessional conduct and convictions of crime substantially related to the practice of a physician assistant as the reasons for the investigation.

Prior to his trouble in California, Lucas had his physician's assistant license temporarily suspended in Connecticut after he was found to be administering Botox injections without a doctor present. Just days after his full license was restored by that state, the New York Board for Professional Medical Conduct placed conditions on his license, issuing him a censure and reprimand.

If the results of the upcoming California hearing do not favor Lucas, his license could be revoked or suspended, and he may be ordered to cover the cost of the state's investigation.

Dr. Phil is not a licensed psychologist. Remember he attempted to treat Britt Spears and was laughed out of the hospital. He does hold a PhD from University in TX, but he is not licensed in anything.

Robert Lucas is the grey haired man in the background directly behind the patient. (And yes, the Dr.'s on "The Doctors are all real Doctors).

I do not even see a Robert Lucas listed. He is not one of the 4 doctors who is on the show every day. Dr Oron is the plastic surgeon, but no where is this guy even listed on the website....

The doctors are one of the best shows on TV. Thats why they have specialist in different fields so they can discuss different subjects. ER Doctors are very Knowledgeable and are constantly learning something new. Keep up the good job, and for those who don't like the show. GET LOST!!!!!

Shame on you AOL! The doctor in the article is not even one of the doctors on the show! Your report makes it seem like the doctors on the show are not real or reputable. Your hurt their reputation - and your OWN credability!

Doctors or not... I have learned a great deal from watching the Doctors. I actually look forward to it. There are times when they generalize the topic(s)...But overall, the program has valuable information. One bad apple should not destoy the essence of the program. I will keep watching.

Gee, just maybe he cleaned up his act. Doesn't California have enough to do without a smear campaign. A lot of doctors drink, a lot of doctors get drunk. A lot of doctors abuse something, even their wives and children, but they still practice. The only thing wrong with the DUI punishment system, is the sytem itself. It's not teaching anyone the error of their ways.

While not an MD, this man is licensed to practice medicine, so are some nurses. If his profession considers alcohol abuse a disease, why don't the support and require him into treatment?

Ok if Im not mistaken, he admitted guilt, did his penance, and is on probation, why is anybody talking about this, so he is not a perfect person like all of you bashing him must be.
