Gwen Stefani on Her Husband: It's Unbelievable We Stayed Together
Gwen Stefani rocks the May cover of
Elle Magazine--and in the accompanying interview, she discusses songwriting, performing while pregnant and her disbelief that she and husband Gavin Rossdale are still together.
"The first time we ever kissed was right around Valentine's Day--we were in New Orleans on tour. So, yeah, I always think about that because it's unbelievable that we've been able to stay together. I feel so proud of us--it's one of my biggest achievements," she told Elle.
Stefani, 41, also talked about how Prince really affected her songwriting process. "Prince, who is one of my idols, gave me some advice when I worked with him: "Have you ever just tried writing a hit? Like, don't just try writing a song, try and write a hit song." I remember him saying that and me thinking, Yeah, you're right. Why would you write anything else?"

On performing while pregnant:
"It was horrible. Certain songs would make me want to puke. You feel pretty gross when you are first pregnant. You don't feel cute, you feel disgusting. You're getting fat. It was hard. I mean, I'm very vain. That would be my middle name. Of course I am, you know what I mean? I love the visual."
On Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Katy Perry:
"I don't see myself in those girls. I usually put pants on. I see these girls as more going for the sex-symbol thing. I was more, in the band, like a tomboy. Of course, I think every girl is sexy, so there's going to be a little of that. But I see a lot of younger artists going more toward the sexy thing."

Hate on it, hater. Who the hell are you anyway? She's had plenty of hits. Pay attention.
Will someone please get Gwen some sun. This kid gives new meaning to being white.

Hmmm... have you ever heard of skin cancer???? I myself have had skin cancer from too much sun. I applaud these celebrities for not baking in the sun nor fake baking in tanning beds. Even though they are a little bit lighter, they are absolutely beautiful and will age way more gracefully than those who have had way too much sun exposure. Gwen, you look absolutely beautiful!!!!
I've always loved Gwen and her music. Her kids are beautiful, not to mention her husband (even though there has been alot of controversy regarding his "preferences') I wish them the best. I'm a big fan of a strong marriage and hope they make it far. All the way to the finish line.

LOL! I think her husband came "out" about his man-affairs.
He is definitely, totally into men......no doubt! (no pun intended)....but just like on Oprah -- he's one of those guys that probably wanted to "try" to go the straight route, have a couple of kids and by the time he's in his 40's....he'll go back to being with men.
(probably why she's surprised he's lasted this long with her).
I like her, tho - - I like her cute, funky style. I just get the feeling she's sooo in love with him - - and overlooks his preference for men.
If her husband has been rumored to be gay, he would change that. If I was him and I had a sexy wife like Gwen Stefani, I would be totally straight.
There are some really sexy women out there. Why in the world would some guys be interested in each other? If they cannot find someone as special as Gwen, I can understand.

How about writing something interesting, something meaningful or something good, for the sake of art? At least you are not deluded enough to think your songs have any purpose. What a vapid idiot, she's no different than Justin Beiber, he writes hits too!

she's lookin pretty darn good for 41, that is all i am going to say, i think her hubby may be a loser though.

Gavin Rossdale is no loser. He's been very successful in his own right. I applaud a man who can handle the fact that his wife is even more successful than he is. That goes to show that he's secure. I hardly think that constitutes a loser. Especially since even non-celebrity men have a hard time handling that kind of thing. As far as his sexual preferences go... that's between the two of them. It's none of our business what goes on behind closed doors.
Sighs, why are people so negative. They love each other and will do what they want to do. I agree with Allie826, It's none of our business what goes on behind closed doors. Gwen...you're awesome. Keep on living the good life!
