Susan Lucci: 'It Hurts Me to Hear' Rumors of 'All My Children' Cancellation

You know 'All My Children' star Susan Lucci as Erica Kane -- but you don't know the actress herself, which is why she chose to write her memoir 'All My Life.'

"It's the first book I've ever written. I've been a private person my whole career and never really thought a book was something I was going to do," she tells PopEater.

Lucci reveals that everyone will "be surprised by everything [in the book], since I never talked about my personal life."

And what about those rumors about ABC planning to cancel 'Children'? "It hurts me to hear those," she says.

"The rumors are not coming from ABC. I just have been very enthusiastically told how much they love my story line that I just begun working on, and I just was given my schedule into next year," the actress adds.

A source close to the long-running soap opera told TVSquad that the series might be canceled soon, due to lagging ratings.

One possible reason no one watches soaps anymore? Reality TV. "I think reality shoes are much less expensive to produce," the actress says, while providing a similar kind of entertainment.

'Children' has been airing since 1970 with Lucci as one of the flagship characters.

And as a former 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant, the Emmy winner assures us she is still watching the show, and thinks Ralph Macchio will take home the mirror ball trophy. "He's really good and he's so charming."

I wonder if she'll include the chapter where she finds out that her niece, Veronica, started having sexual intercourse with her World History teacher during her sophmore year in high school (15 years old). They still are together and living in Lafayette, IN to this day!

As an ABC viewer from the age of 10, in 1982, until 1995, I watched Ryan's Hope, All my Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital. My husband and I were avid watchers. Then, life took over, and we no longer had the evenings to watch 3-4 hours of soaps.

Now I work from home now and then, and turn on the tv to catch news. Once I left news on.. and when I looked again, I saw Erica and Jackson on the screen. Really? Since my daughter is 20 yrs old now, I know that the last time I saw those to on screen was over two decades.

It's time to close the book. I will always have a special place in my heart for One Life to Life, All my Children. Megan and Jake, Megan dying in the hospital.. priceless.

But now, the end is near.

Stick them on a soap reality show..

I still watch this soap along with a few others. I really would hate to see it go away. I can keep up with the soaps and do other things along the way. Not one to believe that I can live like these people, just enjoy the stories.

Sometimes its best to call it quits, its time, Greenlee,Ryan and Kendall have ruined the once good show. They are overactors. Proving they have NO acting ability. Reva brought down Guiding light, and Rachel Cory brought down Another World. These 3 have brought AMC down!! farewell pine valley.

It hurts me to have to keep looking at your 70 year old wrinkled up face/neck on the internet everyday...go have 5 more bad plastic surgeries and eat a hamburger for crying out loud, you look like a FN skeleton...then hobble off into the sunset to have your depends changed like a good 70 has been should...Besides your show sucks azz...I watch Days they were smart enough to get rid of all the old people on that show...

Susan is beautiful and at 63 we should all look so good. For your info, she works very hard at keeping in shape and staying thin and taking care of herself. I admire her very much. She has a wonderful long time marriage and a great family and one of the longest acting roles in history. Obviously she is doing something right.
I love All My Children and am so happy that ABC is sticking with it. I happen to like all of the older people on the shows and for your information...life is made up of all ages, not just young people. You may find that out someday, if you're lucky enough. But then again, you might just get hit by a bus.

I very much agree about Susan L,I really do not care about her age but I do think she is a great actress,& I do not want to see
show end,when I first started watching Kate & Mona where still alive along with Phoebe & Charles,yes it has been on a long time,but is that a reason to cancel? Just keep the storylines interesting people will watch,although it would be more interesting if Jack & Erica do finally tie the knot again to have them more in the background,Jack can do his thing & Erica instead of storylines always being ABOUT her maybe just captilize of fact she is kind of a busy body,she's been with show since the start & deserves top billing but not at the exspense of others,she could be an Agatha Christe type caracter,
A.M.C. always has enough crimes to solve she can alays get in Jesse's & police business & Jack has to bail her out,it could be a new concept for A.M.C.I have been watching since show first came on I am old but not really to go yet,grown son,grandchildren,Job & A.m.C. THESE PEOPLE ARE LIKE FAMILY.SAVE.
