Will Smith, Jaden Smith Team Up for M. Night Shyamalan Sci-Fi Flick

Generally,
Will Smith can do no wrong. 'Fresh Prince' was '90s gold. 'Miami' is still the party anthem for my hometown. I own
'Independence Day' on DVD.
But I don't think I've read a sentence lately that's made me laugh as hard as the headline to this story: Will Smith and his son,
Jaden, will co-star in a sci-fi adventure flick for director
M. Night Shyamalan.
It's real, guys. It's really real.
Now, to be clear, Will Smith is a great actor, and Jaden, 12, proved his worth alongside his dad in
'The Pursuit of Happyness,' which made anyone with a soul weep like a baby.
The untitled film stars Jaden as
a young boy who navigates an abandoned and sometimes scary Earth 1,000 years in the future to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes, according to a release sent out by Sony today.
It doesn't help matters that Shyamalan's most recent film,
'The Last Airbender,' was
a tremendous disaster; poor plotting and a whitewashed cast made the movie flop like a fish on a boat deck. He was
a super-nice guy when we interviewed him last year, but that doesn't mean he's still making good movies.
Conversely, the Smiths are box office royalty. Jaden's 2010 remake of
'The Karate Kid' pulled in $350 million worldwide.
How did this matchup even happen? And what on Earth is the final film going to be like? Is it too much to hope for it to end up being 'Independence Day II'?

Remind me to kill myself if I ever dress my kid up like that.

why wait?
They should have known better. Shayamalan is a hack. This could be a career killer.

Why is that funny? I want to see it.

Now, to be clear, Will Smith is a great actor...No,he's really not. He's someone who's cross culturally safe and inoffensive and has been shoved down our throats. Lear the difference between actor and movie star.

I think this is the part where M. Knight gets saved! Smith is a good actor and director, I'm sure his direction is going to take a major role in the making of this film, his son's career is at stake as well. No, Smith knows what he is doing. It's a matter of dollars and cents here.

I hate nepotism. Just because one's father is an actor does not mean the child is an actor. The same goes for singer or anything else these parents think their children should be doing. I used to like will smith, but will not allow his children to be shoved down my throat. I will not see this movie, or anything else the "SMITH" family are in.

Nepotism at is finest...That "family" is so overdone. I think the mother was once one of the lollipop kids in the wizard of OZ.

Pathetic! Hey, Will! Stop whoring out your kids!

Well at least this is an original story line. I am sick to death of remakes of movies that were excellent the first time around. Leave them be and go for something you can make your own.

I'm sure there weren't ANY other kids in Hollywood that could have filled that role. Nauseating B.S.

UUUGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!! Why can't M Night find a real talented kid who hasn't had it all handed to him-her and will never ever have to work ever??????? Do not get it!!!!

What? You cop to owning that big budget turd "Independence Day"? You thought that movie was righteous just because Will Smith was in it, or because so many people loved a dumb movie?
Then you presume to judge M.Night as a director. Laughable ,in my opinion.

So M. Night has had a couple bad flicks. Can happen to anyone. I'm looking forward to this movie.
