Glenn Beck to Leave His FOX News Show

Glenn Beck is ditching his mega-popular show on FOX News. According to Business Insider, the polarizing host will "transition" away from the show later in 2011, but continue working with the network.

"Glenn intends to transition off of his daily program, the third highest rated in all of cable news, later this year," reads a press release.

Beck will be slated to "develop and produce a variety of television projects for air on the Fox News Channel as well as content for other platforms including Fox News' digital properties."

While the press release is quick to tout the successes of Beck's show, no explanation is given for his departure. Beck's show has aired daily at 5PM since early 2009.

"Mr. Beck has been contemplating an exit from Fox for some time," the New York Times writes. "Two of the post-Fox options he has considered, according to people who have spoken about it with him, are a partial or wholesale takeover of a cable channel, or an expansion of his subscription video service on the Web. His company has been staffing up - making Web shows, some of which have little or nothing to do with Mr. Beck, and charging a monthly subscription for access to the shows."

GLENN BECK AT ONE TIME APPEARED FAIRLY NORMAL I DO NOT HATE FOX NEWS NOR BECK;BUT I HAVE TO SAYTHIS. BECK HAS BEEN ACTING ALMOST PSYCHOTIC LATELY. HE SOUNDS LIKE CHARLIE SHEENAN. I thank Glenn for making me see the truth. Our country is in serious trouble and those that think we are the ones brainwashed need to look at the Maddows, Behars and all the other crazy CNN and MSNBC loons. Listening to their one-sided, untruthful dribble makes me sick. And you liberal "followers" hang on their every word instead of educating yourself. HIGH unemployment, a healthcare bill that is an atrocity, a war in Libya we can't pay for (just to name a few) and yet you continue to sing his praises. Now who's the moron? BTW - you use the word "moron" quite often - you really ought to expand your vocabulary.

@Michael da Man - Did I say I "followed" Glenn, ah, no. But, I do subscribe to his way of thinking and many others like him who are not on Fox News. I am not ashamed to stand on what this country was founded on and I will continue to oppose those who try to take that away from me and my family. If that makes me "gullible" then so be it.
