Mariska Hargitay Adopts a Baby Girl

'Law & Order: SVU' star Mariska Hargitay is a new mom! The television star and her husband, actor Peter Hermann, have adopted a baby girl, PEOPLE reports. Amaya Josephine was born about a week ago and is from the United States.

"I'm deliriously happy," the 47-year-old star told PEOPLE. "From the minute she was born, she was just surprisingly alert and so full of love."

"We were considering both international and domestic adoption and we're thrilled that this is the way our prayers were answered," she added. "We talked a lot about mixed-race adoptions, and we are very excited that we are now a multi-racial family. We're just so happy she's here."

The new parents aren't to the only ones excited about the new addition. Hargitay reveals her 4-year-old son, August, is thrilled too!

"He is over the moon. He calls her his baby because he says the whole thing was his idea. He always talks about how he's going to protect her. He's going to be a great big brother," she said.

I am so happy for Mariska and her family and their precious new
baby. It doesn't matter what color the child. She will be loved and that is what counts. Way to go, Mariska!!!

ME: YOU are a very disgusting person. A baby is a baby and unless you are a racist, it makes NO difference to the parents if the baby is white, black, red or green. LOVE is the word to go along with what these people have done. Congratulations to the couple.

Who cares what ethnicity the baby is, at least an American baby has been given a loving home. We need to take take care of our own over here, as it seems these celebs are bent on rescuing kids from everywhere else. Congrats and more power to her.

Don't know what all the fuss is about.It isn't like they will actually raise the kid.The nannies do that and when needed the so-called celebrities trot them out like a show dog.At least the kid will not want for money.Then again that could also be a bad thing as so many of these hollywood "stars" kids end up on drugs or booze,blow the money,overdose or drive drunk and usually kill an innocent person.Sorry but these are the facts and its in the news almost every week.
