Is 'Twilight' Star Nikki Reed Dating 'Idol' Hopeful Paul McDonald?

'Twilight' actress Nikki Reed is reportedly dating 'American Idol' hopeful Paul McDonald.

According to E! Online, Reed has been calling McDonald her "boyfriend" and the two have been keeping in close contact via Skype.

This is due to the fact that the young actress is busy filming 'Breaking Dawn' and McDonald is still one of the finalists competing on 'Idol.'

The couple first met when the Top 13 'Idol' finalists were taken to see 'Red Riding Hood' in early March. Reed met McDonald and complimented his singing saying, "You're amazing. I'm blushing, I should go."

McDonald did not recognize the young actress and just said, "Wow, thank you," before giving her an awkward hug goodbye.

Once Reed was out of earshot, McDonald asked the 'Idol' camera crew, "Was she a famous actress or something? I'd hang out with her!"

Looks like the couple have been 'hanging' out ever since.

This is the second romance that has blossomed in the 'Idol' house. Earlier this month it was reported that contestants Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart were quite the cozy couple off-stage.

I wonder if everyone felt Pia was a sure bet and they just didn't bother to vote. I had a difficult time trying to vote on line and just gave up. Ryan usually says how many votes they recieved, but this week he never mentioned it and did say "stay with us". I really thought Pia would go all the way. It's time for a girl to win, it has been a long time.

America got it right with pia. she is good but not great. the person who should have gone home the first week is jacob. he is awful. i cannot watch him as all he does is scream. no one wants to hear that. the judges are the worst and the so call talent this year is the worst it has ever been. no one on the show is great. James is the most talented and should win.

I agree chartman that James Durbin is the best performer in the adult category, however, I see genius in Casey, but I really give credit to Scotty. Consider most 17 yr. old young men that you know.

This was particualarly evident when he picked a Johnny Cash(!) song to perform with his weak, whispy voice. He is a one trick pony as a Rod Stewart imitator. I can only imagine the amount of power it takes to mike him up to listening level.

All the remaining hopefuls can sing. It's just a matter of 'taste' who you like and vote for. I'm betting the judges were wishing they'd kept their "save" vote for last night.

Although I liked Pia (and did give her votes), my favorites are James and Scotty. I also like Paul's quirky voice, but he doesn't have a chance to win. The other girls are good enough to stay for a while, especially Haley. Jacob is talented, but I can't stand to watch him. Stephano can sing, but I don't care for his style at all.

Paul should have never made it to the top twelve, there were/are a lot of better singer's than he is. I can't even stand to hear him sing.

That sucks big time/shows that the voting is all wrong/they should do it like dancing with the stars..only 10 votes period/This turned me off for sure/will not watch this show again...Bring it on Simon!...Scotty for the win

The ido hopeful is a hanger on thinking this will make him famous and it will not and if it does it simply shows the absurdy and sham of the show in full view.

I don't know about the talent level, but there are a few who should definately go, paul, jacob, and Stephano. But keep Haley, she was looking hot in the skin tight light jeans.

I blame the judges for not saving their save. The guy they used it on was not that good. Pia should have a great music future. I voted for her.

Vicky - you said this is not a personality contest, it's a singing contest. WRONG. It's a contest to find the next Idol, which is based on talent AND personality. You can be an amazing singer mechanically, but if the audience doesn't *feel* anything for you, you won't be an Idol. That's why Pia went home and should have gone home - she didn't engage with the audience in any way whatsoever. And to you morons who think Paul can't sing. Get a clue. Paul is a wonderful singer. His voice is not what we're used to hearing on AI and it's not all diva-style, but it's unique and his tone is wonderful. Plus, he's a great performer. He deserves to be there. So suck it.

LOVE Paul. He's unique and a great entertainer. He's much more interesting than any of the cookie cutter singers this show produces....the boy band wannabes and the pop princesses. Nikki is a lucky girl. He's adorable.

I am Puals fan i am very happy he is still in the running for American Idol and I believe Pia really did diserve to stay as much as Paul or jacob.. or anyone still there...But I am Not too worried about pia she has already signed to a record deal and im sure veryone that goes home is gonna be offered one..I agree with bren to the part about jacob... jacob can sing his butt off but Stephano idk about...
