Is 'Twilight' Star Nikki Reed Dating 'Idol' Hopeful Paul McDonald?

'Twilight' actress Nikki Reed is reportedly dating 'American Idol' hopeful Paul McDonald.

According to E! Online, Reed has been calling McDonald her "boyfriend" and the two have been keeping in close contact via Skype.

This is due to the fact that the young actress is busy filming 'Breaking Dawn' and McDonald is still one of the finalists competing on 'Idol.'

The couple first met when the Top 13 'Idol' finalists were taken to see 'Red Riding Hood' in early March. Reed met McDonald and complimented his singing saying, "You're amazing. I'm blushing, I should go."

McDonald did not recognize the young actress and just said, "Wow, thank you," before giving her an awkward hug goodbye.

Once Reed was out of earshot, McDonald asked the 'Idol' camera crew, "Was she a famous actress or something? I'd hang out with her!"

Looks like the couple have been 'hanging' out ever since.

This is the second romance that has blossomed in the 'Idol' house. Earlier this month it was reported that contestants Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart were quite the cozy couple off-stage.

Paul should have been the one voted off AI last night, he was the weakest singer. Jennifer Lopez got Pia voted off with her constantly telling her to get better, dang she was already better than the other singers, she should never have been sent home last night. I bet her phone is flooding with calls for a contract already. I hope this wasn't a publicity stunt for AI.

Pia is probably as good and photogenic as Lopez, and with similar potential, which may explain Jennifer bestowing such faint praise for Pia.

this is a singing contest...not a personality contest...or who can jump around on the stage the most....or who wears the best clothes.....casey looks like a homeless guy every week ..Where is he a whole package....?If you have a great voice that is all you need to listen to a CD....she is going to be picked up by one of the best music moguls because of this mistake...

Sadly, even though Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler made the show much more interesting this year, they seem to lack the honesty and integrity to admit they made a mistake by putting Paul through to the final 25 this year. What seemed like a cool and freshly unique (if you don't consider Rod Stewart) style of singing quicky became stale and gimmicky. They screwed up by putting Paul through. Yet none of the three will acknowlege it. Not even Randy. If Simon was still around to toss in the first mention of it being a mistake, then Randy would have chimed in and agreed as he did in years past. But sadly, we don't have the integrity to admit mistakes this year. Too bad, because better singers are suffering for their lack of integrity.

What is going wrong this year...is the judges are too nice! Only Randy knows what to do. If the other judges would have agreed with Randy and cut down Stefano a bit, he would have been the one to go. That is how it was done by Simon, and Paula, and even Ellen. The judges have a lot of pull with the voting, and they don't elp things along, something like this happens. Paul (whom I love) or Jacob, or Stefano should have all gone before Pia. The judges need to do their job! Judge these people, don't always say they are wonderful. Then people will vote right!

Judges are for input so contestants do a better job next week. People vote for who they like, not who the judges like, otherwise what is the point?????

Actually I don't even agree that Stafano should have been in the bottom three. He sings much better than some that didn't make the bottom three.

I have to dis-agree. I think Stefano is one of the best if not the best male singer of the group. I really don't think he should have even been in the bottom three. He's a BETTER singer than both Paul and Casey, and just as good as Jacob, Scotty or James.

Pia was the whole package. The dress she wore on Wednesday was not that great,however. She looks so nice usually. She isnt done. She will go on to a super career.

it was a jumpsuit picked out by gwen Stefano...and it's really not a dress contest....what are we voting for ....the voice or the dress ?????jumping around on the stage???screaming???growling????ridiculous....PIA should of been in the top 4 ...The judges need to be more careful of what they say....

Let's be REAL here Paul couldn't sing to save his life. He should have gone home. He has no talent no voice and is a total loser in my eyes, I guess the judges were tone deaf when the didn't send him home at his audition.

You're so right! Where is Simon Cowell when we really need him. There seems to be a segment of our population that is mesmerized by Paul, blind to the fact that his singing is actually almost laughable. The first time I heard him sing, I thought "Wow, he kind of sounds like Rod Stewart". But as time went by I saw that a quirky little voice does not make a good singer. It's really kind of pathetic. Both Pia and Stefano are twice or triple the singers that Paul is. Paul has been here far longer than his expiration date. Simon Cowell would have told it like it is and opened up the eyes of those who fall all over themselves to listen to his "singing". At least Simon had the guts to tell it like it is when he hears sub-par singing.

If the only reason you're watching American Idol is to see the beautiful girls, then you should not have watched in the first place. AI is about the whole talent package. Although I don't think Pia should have been next in line to go, I don't think she was going to be our next AI. She is a great singer and beautiful, but I do not feel enough stage presence from her. She just stands there and sings, not enough personality.

Pia should never have gone home but I disagree about Paul. He is a hell of a singer and is like another Rod Stewart. I agree Jacob or Stephano should have gone because those two can't sing their way out of a paper bag.

i am a huge fan of paul. if he couldn't sing, he wouldn't be there still! it's hard getting down to the bottom few because they are all really good. but most of them, just like last year and the years before, will all get a contract anyway. it's not a big deal
