Tina Fey Says She Agonized Over Having a Second Child
Tina Fey announced on Wednesday that she was
pregnant with her second child, during the taping of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' and
PEOPLE is now revealing that the decision did not come easy for the '30 Rock' actress.
In Fey's new memoir 'Bossypants,' she recollects the sleepless nights she spent contemplating on whether to have another child or not and the question tormented her such that she broke down during a routine visit to her gynecologist.
Fey wrote, "I went for my annual checkup and, tired of carrying this anxiety around, burst into tears the moment she said hello. I laid it all out for her, and the main thing I took away from our conversation was the kind of simple observation that only an impartial third party can provide: 'Either way, everything will be fine.'"
The 40-year-old mother also said she felt "stricken with guilt and panic" when her only child, 5-year-old daughter Alice, would say, "I wish I had a baby sister."
Fey also battled the work-vs-family issue, which was particularly difficult for a woman in the entertainment business who was entering her 40s.
In the memoir she says, "Science shows that fertility and movie offers drop off steeply for women after 40."
But in the end Fey writes her realization, "Hollywood be damned. I'll just be unemployable and labeled crazy in five years anyway."
The Emmy winning actress is now five months along and it looks like she couldn't be happier along with her husband, composer Jeff Richmond and daughter Alice.

It is sad that young women don't value being mothers and wifes, careers are now top priority. I feel sorry for them, because I think as they get older and reflect on their life, to put more value on a career and to have less on a family will be unfulfilling for most. I respect we all have choices tho, just missing the love of family in our society and wanting that more then anything else. Thank you Women's Lib for allowing women to work, divorce, have children with different men and clean the house, and cook too.

Maybe Tina Fey will have a Downs Syndrome baby, then she'll be able to make fun of Sarah Palin even better than before. Fey is old enough to have one and she obviously thinks she's much smarter than Palin so it should be rather easy for her.
