'Idol' Castoff Pia Toscano: A Record Deal Already?

As a season 10 standout, she was a favorite finalist among judges, and countless 'American Idol' fans expressed shock over singer Pia Toscano's elimination this week.

But while her former competitors on the hit series keep on warbling for votes, Toscano has moved at lightning speed to capitalize on her new fame, and make her mark in the music industry.

The New York native, 22, is reportedly entering the recording studio as soon as possible to lay down tracks on a debut album, thanks to a brand new contract with Jimmy Iovine's Interscope label.

"Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records, who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP," an insider tells Us.

"Starting [Thursday] night, after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her, and first thing [Friday] morning, Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it," says the source, adding, "Papers are being finalized. It's basically a done deal. She's signing. They rushed everything, but she's so excited."

"I have no idea what just happened here," Jennifer Lopez said on Thursday's broadcast, after the tally of votes sent Toscano packing. And Lopez wasn't the only one stunned by the results episode.

"I'm never upset on this show, and I'm never really mad," veteran judge Randy Jackson said about the singer who many considered a contender for the season 10 crown. "But this makes me mad."

Pia was my favorite to win this year. She has star quality; beauty, stage presence, poise and an unbelievable voice. The voters blew it. Haley over Pia.what gives! I felt like never watching IDOL ever again, but now I'm happy to see that she will get her contract and album going. She will be more in demand and make more money than any of the remaining 8. Bank on that.

I agree - Haley sounds the same every week; I also saw her smirk when Pia was voted off. Oh well, her days are numbered. I will buy Pia's album, and Haley will go the way of all the American Idol has-beens. That's what happens when 13 year olds do all the voting and people who actually buy the music don't waste our time mega-texting. The last time I bought music from an AI alum was Adam Lambert. (Case in point: what's Kris Allen doing these days?) Pia is another one I will vote for. Most of the rest of them I'll never remember again. I also don't think I will watch the rest of the season. It is boring now that Pia was voted off. They need to revise the voting structure, and limit the number of times you can vote. Then maybe this show will stop being the joke it has turned out to be.

she sucked..noone will buy this album..noone will go see her in concert...pull out your celine dion cd's she is just a remake..and a bad one at that!

YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WRONG. Pia will have an amazing carrer. She is a fabulous singer and will do great. NOT EVERYONE IS THE SAME, and thank god for that because PIA is a FABOULOUS SINGER, not just a fly by night like most of the American Idol winners and contestants. GO PIA.....we love you.

oh yea right, is this Haley? wouldn't doubt it.....LOL the only other people probably getting recording contracts out of that show are Scotty and James. there isn't going to be a single person jumping up to give haley, stephano or jacob a contract!

Take your rude attitude, and you know what you can do with it. You probably like the scratchy voiced singer with the nice smile, or one of the other girls who can't hold a candle to Pia. We know who votes. Pimply teenage girls. Is it any wonder why 5 girls in a row have been sent packing? LOOK AT THE VOTERS!

I think you are wrong..Pia is very talented and consistantly sings well...I can't wait to see the AI concert this summer...hope it is back at Jones Beach. I think the problem was young kids voting and why do they need to vote more than once?...I never understood this...one vote is fair and it is enough...
