'Idol' Castoff Pia Toscano: A Record Deal Already?

As a season 10 standout, she was a favorite finalist among judges, and countless 'American Idol' fans expressed shock over singer Pia Toscano's elimination this week.

But while her former competitors on the hit series keep on warbling for votes, Toscano has moved at lightning speed to capitalize on her new fame, and make her mark in the music industry.

The New York native, 22, is reportedly entering the recording studio as soon as possible to lay down tracks on a debut album, thanks to a brand new contract with Jimmy Iovine's Interscope label.

"Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records, who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP," an insider tells Us.

"Starting [Thursday] night, after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her, and first thing [Friday] morning, Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it," says the source, adding, "Papers are being finalized. It's basically a done deal. She's signing. They rushed everything, but she's so excited."

"I have no idea what just happened here," Jennifer Lopez said on Thursday's broadcast, after the tally of votes sent Toscano packing. And Lopez wasn't the only one stunned by the results episode.

"I'm never upset on this show, and I'm never really mad," veteran judge Randy Jackson said about the singer who many considered a contender for the season 10 crown. "But this makes me mad."

I think the judges reactions were inapropriate. How rude to the other contestants. They all have talent - there can only be one selection for this American Idol. I don't think she was going to win anyway - so she went ahead of someone else. One of the guys is going to win this one. The talent and stage performance that this person has is indeed the best. I like all of the contestants but again there's only going to be one selection for this American Idol. p.s. I really like the judges but someone has to go home - sad as it maybe - temporarily.

The judges were horrible and they treated the remaining contestants like small dirt bags that could not sing. It was disgusting how they treated them

They were not rude to the other contestants. She shouldn't have been voted off so soon while worst singers like Jacob, Stephano and Haley still there. But Pia will go forward regardless because those morons who voted for the less talented singers don't represent all the people who buy cds.

I AM SO GLAD FOR PIA. I cried when I heard about this because I was so pushing for PIA. I love you Pia and I can't wait for your album. Now I am happy. I thought your being voted off was horrible, I cried so hard. Good luck to you Pia. You are America's next rising star!

Pia didn't nail every song. The Tina Turner song was not great. She has a nice voice, but by no means the best I've heard. She got what she wanted, a record deal. No need to cry over her, Hah! Time will tell, but I won't be buying.

With todays economy, we will probably not be buying any cds
either. The teenagers and teeny boppers are the only ones with
money to spend on that kind of stuff, so....it is only right that
the contestants win that the kids like their singing!!

I thought the top "11" are under contract with Idol until after the tour. Which would mean she wouldn't be able to sign with anyone. Pia will be fine. . . She will have an amazing career.

THE JUDGES GOT IT WRONG !!! When they used their "SAVE" card on dirty beard guy...... who couldn't get a job in a DARK BACKSTREET BAR !! PRAYING FOR YOU PIA !! You reminded me of Kelly Clarkson.... You - Kelly - and Clay Aiken are the only reasons I watch A. I. You Go Girl !!!

Pia will have a career. She has a great voice but not a lot of stage presence or personality which is why no one voted for her. She was a favorite in the beginning but didn't grow as a performer. Of course, the young girls will vote for the younger guys, but we vote for our favs. That's the way it goes. I wish her well. But if you look at her performances, it wasn't that shocking.

Congratulations Pia! I think the judges are to blame for the poor decisions the voters has casted. American Idol misses Simon because he has a clear vision on recognizing talent! The judges are afraid to give honest point of views. Close your eyes and listen to the contestants, most are terrible..

Pia was good but not the best.. I voted for the people i wanted and that is that. Life goes on. Maybe Lopez should stop gushing over Stefano (he really isnt THAT great), im sure that is why he managed to get one up on Pia. I will keep watching because at this point, I really dont know who will win.
