'Idol' Castoff Pia Toscano: A Record Deal Already?

As a season 10 standout, she was a favorite finalist among judges, and countless 'American Idol' fans expressed shock over singer Pia Toscano's elimination this week.

But while her former competitors on the hit series keep on warbling for votes, Toscano has moved at lightning speed to capitalize on her new fame, and make her mark in the music industry.

The New York native, 22, is reportedly entering the recording studio as soon as possible to lay down tracks on a debut album, thanks to a brand new contract with Jimmy Iovine's Interscope label.

"Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records, who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP," an insider tells Us.

"Starting [Thursday] night, after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her, and first thing [Friday] morning, Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it," says the source, adding, "Papers are being finalized. It's basically a done deal. She's signing. They rushed everything, but she's so excited."

"I have no idea what just happened here," Jennifer Lopez said on Thursday's broadcast, after the tally of votes sent Toscano packing. And Lopez wasn't the only one stunned by the results episode.

"I'm never upset on this show, and I'm never really mad," veteran judge Randy Jackson said about the singer who many considered a contender for the season 10 crown. "But this makes me mad."

There is a lot of talent on the show this year. There are going to be a lot of talented people voted off the show....only 1 can win.

I agree with some of the others that she was never going to be the last one standing, but I was surprised her ending came this soon.

She has a gorgeous voice, great figure, grace and poise but I do feel she was lacking in stage presence and showmanship. Fantastic to listen to but not really very entertaining. She will still have a great career.

Idol Fan age 50...and yes I do vote every week.

PIA will go onto bigger and better things then anyone thinks...don't forget susan boyle sold millions of records and she never moved from the mic....there is a place for everyone in this world...The big music mogul who is signing her will lead her the right way......good for her...I'll buy it .

I thought that Pia was going to be signed and that Idol wasn't going to let her get away. I was shocked when she was voted off the show I thought Pia was going to win Idol I think Pia will out sell whoever wins American Idol just my opinion.

Fiona, you are such a smart lady, I couldn't agree with you more!

Having been in the Music Business for 31 years, I can't believe that Casey Adams and Paul made it to Hollywood to begin with. Neither one has a voice, and belong to all the recent AI winners voted in by the tweens who wouldn't know talent if it bit them. That is with the exception of Clay Aiken who they did vote for in Season II, that I agreed with. I blame the judges for allowing the save to be used to save Adams. They could have used it this past week to save Pia. However, if the information is true about a record deal already, she'll do just fine.

Haley should be the one to go if for no reason other than the fact that she appears to be a rude little twit!!! What are all these LOOKS she gives whenever someone is announced as "safe" or "bottom three"??? Do we now have to get her approval before the show can move on? And what was that SNAP thing she did last Thursday. I truly believe she is even dumber than Snooki. I love the idea of casting votes if you want to eliminate someone. Then I would stay on the phone for the whole two hours just to get RID of her.

No doubt Pia can sing but I have yet to see her actually perform. Congrats to her on the record deal but selling out a concert tour is an entirely different story. That being said, based on her voice, she was voted out too soon. Not a fan of Casey at all. Liking James Durbin and I think he'll win the whole shabang !!!

I guess I'm the ONLY person who sees this as a setup. Jimmy Levine wanted this girl on his label. The only way he could be sure of getting her is to get her voted off and then grab her up immediately after the show. Sounds weird right? Believe me, this is the way business is done.

I think Pia is a fabulous singer and beautiful also. I wouldn't buy her album unless she changes things up a lot. She's very boring after 2 songs, NO stage presence at all. Casey is not as strong in voice as Pia but I'd much prefer watching him in concert! I think he's different and fabulous!! It's up to America on who wins, not the 3 judges. It could be any one of 8, they are all so different but everyone of them is very talented. We'll see!!!!
