'Idol' Castoff Pia Toscano: A Record Deal Already?

As a season 10 standout, she was a favorite finalist among judges, and countless 'American Idol' fans expressed shock over singer Pia Toscano's elimination this week.

But while her former competitors on the hit series keep on warbling for votes, Toscano has moved at lightning speed to capitalize on her new fame, and make her mark in the music industry.

The New York native, 22, is reportedly entering the recording studio as soon as possible to lay down tracks on a debut album, thanks to a brand new contract with Jimmy Iovine's Interscope label.

"Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records, who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP," an insider tells Us.

"Starting [Thursday] night, after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her, and first thing [Friday] morning, Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it," says the source, adding, "Papers are being finalized. It's basically a done deal. She's signing. They rushed everything, but she's so excited."

"I have no idea what just happened here," Jennifer Lopez said on Thursday's broadcast, after the tally of votes sent Toscano packing. And Lopez wasn't the only one stunned by the results episode.

"I'm never upset on this show, and I'm never really mad," veteran judge Randy Jackson said about the singer who many considered a contender for the season 10 crown. "But this makes me mad."

People are SO gullible. The Idol machine is just that...a machine...pushing out new "artists" to make as much money off them as possible before they fade away like so many have.

Now I'm starting to think the fix was in. Besides being in shock at Pia being voted out in the 9th spot - I was shocked on Wednesday night when I had no trouble voting. I voted dozens of times more then a 1/2 hour after the show ended - and never got a single busy signal. Now I'm thinking that had Pia stayed longer - she would not been at liberty to "rush record" an album that will hit the stores well before this season on Idol is over and before a new Idol is crowned. Iovine's no fool - he knows a platinum singer when he sees (and hears) one. Now he gets Pia for HIS label? Something fishy here. Her inopportune vote off (if indeed it was legit) gets tons of publicity and controversy for the show (finishing it's first decade with ratings starting to slide) and he beats everyone else to the punch. This wouldn't have happened on Simon's watch.

More than 4 weeks ago I picked Pia to be in the final three with Lusk and Durbin. I would have bet some serious money on it. I can't understand why the best female singer got thrown out early. I don't think Lauren or Haley are as good as Pia.

Pia will be a good role model for many young girls out there. She has style, grace, brains, and talent. I am glad she is working on an album. PIA's career will rank right up there with Daughtry, Underwood, Hudson. Her modeling career, music career, and endorsement career will be enormous. The best thing for her was NOT to win A.I , she can do anything she wants now. But, If I was her I would have held out a bit and not jumped at the first label (Interscope). She had time to employ a REAL manager that could have taken her career to universal stature. I just wish she would have waited and listened to all her options, that is if she did jump and sign on already.

It just goes to show you dont have to win AI to be a winner. Pia will go a long way in the industry. From undrstanding, Stefano felt he would be eliminated and was telling Pia that she wasnt going anywhere. What he should have done is asked the judges to give her his place. Im sure he will be the next to go. Four thumbs up for Pia. If the judges are so upset maybe they can help her out.

Pia will soon be known as "Pia". She will be a super star
in song, film, modeling!! She's got it!!!! It is probably
a blessing that she did not win. How many of the winners have
actually made it??? Not many.

I'm sorry, but i didn't think she was all that. You need to know how to perform or at least know how to dance(move to the music) and Pia just didn't have it. She would never have made it to the final two. I think the Judges over reacted. Not to say how they must have made Stefano feel.

I wasn't shocked at all by Pia's exit. This season is filled with a phenomenal gang of talent. After the top 12 were collated, it's pretty much expected that they'll all go to the recording studio with contracts. It's why the show harnessed some of the best producers out there. Don't pity her exit, she's fabulous and beautiful and the show is going to let her record, because as her management, they'll cash an even bigger check. Honestly, I did expect her, James, and Jacob to be the finalists.

Pia has the whole package. If you close your eyes when someone sings and LISTEN instead of watching the person sing, you can hear the true tone and pitch of a person. Pia was a standout from day 1. The judges played their "save" card wayyyy too quickly. Casey will be gone soon and the save will be for naught. I wish Pia the best in everything and hope Idol realizes that their rules need revamping badly. Good Luck PIA!!!!!

I was in shock when Pia got eliminated from "American Idol".
It should have been Stefano. Pia is amazing!!
However, I am so happy for her that she got this recording
contract so fast. There is justice!!
