Dennis Quaid has been keeping busy promoting his new film 'Soul Surfer,' relocating with his wife and twins to Austin, Tex., and penning a piece for an upcoming issue of Newsweek (in which he'll reportedly describe both his 1970's drug abuse and 1990's road to recovery). For an exclusive interview with PopEater last week, the 56-year-old Texan chatted about surfing, gardening and a major career regret: turning down the starring role in 'Big' that eventually went to Tom Hanks.
Now, after staying mum for months about his outlaw older brother, he's finally addressed Randy Quaid's antics with brief, brotherly remarks.
"I love my brother," Dennis told People.com, while speaking to the press on behalf of 'Soul Surfer.' He added, "That's all I can say. I love my brother and I miss my brother. That's all I'm going to say."

Randy need to clean up himself. I like him as an actor. Funny guy.
dennis is a hottie @ 57! those drugs he did in the 70's must have been top of the line.
randy...take ur meds!!!
Denis played a co-leading role in "Enemy Mine". A non-sexual love story, and he was outstanding! One of the best acting roles you will ever see. If you want to see a great movie, get it..................
The FUNNIEST lines I ever saw Randy present was when he was the attorney in Caddyshack 2 and he was explaining his client's position to the group of lawyers who were going after his client. He reminded me so much of me that I still refer to that scene today when I warn someone of my own "negotiation" talents.

If he loves his brother, why didn't he help his brother when he needed some money? Why didn't he be there for Randy? I'll tell you why, most siblings suck!

Wow carthy...how harsh can you get.
Dennis had twins that almost died. He had a lot on his plate.
Last I looked, Randy is an adult. He needs to fend for himself.
aiding a wanted person makes you an accessory.
Here's the thing. In this situation, money won't help Randy, only Randy can help Randy. There's no worse feeling than giving some money to someone, thinking it is going to help them, and they use it for the wrong purposes, which makes the giver an enabler. Dennis did the right thing by taking care of his boys first. All you can give someone in that situation is love and prayers.
HOW DO YOU KNOW HE WASN'T THERE HOW DO YOU KNOW HE DIDN'T GIVE HIM ANY MONEY - personally I don't think it is any of our business it's between the brothers.
He has helped but there are times when no matter what you do the other person has to help themselves first. The man is an adult and Dennis would help any way he could as long as his brother makes an effort. Buying them out of all their problems just makes it worse. There is a limit.
carthy-Dennis has very young babies having medical problems. If he had left them to "help" his brother-you sound like the type of person who would scream that Dennis was a bad parent. A very simple fact of psychology and human behavior"YOU CANNOT HELP A PERSON WHO DOES NOT WANT TO BE HELPED. Randy does not want to be helped....and he sure is not going to admit he has a problem or two,or three.......
I'm doubtful you're part of the Quaid family, you have no idea of the dynamics!! Maybe Randy's been helped too many times!
Bitter much???
Carthy, Dennis has lead pretty much a private life except for the medical problems he had with his boys. Who are we to judge on what we do not know. He said he loved his brother and he missed his brother... what else could he have said. I respect that, so should you..
So some of you guys think Dennis should give his talented brother Randy money for what? I mean where are the millions Randy ran through? Giving him more would do exactly what? The guy's on the run from the law turning up on stage in a foreign country & basically telling the world he's as mature as a snail & you guys think he's asking for help? He's telling the world "I don't give a damn" but please mail in your sympathy..
giving money to someone with these problems is called enabling. And, others are right, It IS none of our business. You must not have a very loving family. I'm sorry if you don't. I my sister won 10 million dollars, I would not "expect" her to give me a dime, but if she did, I would be grateful. Randy need psychiatric treatment, like "Charlie" I'm afraid.
Wow, Cathy....sounds like you are one of those siblings that try sucking the life and finances out of her own siblings. Grow up....and get a job.
Earth to Cathy...does it SOUND like Randy's problem is primarily financial to you? Really?
He cannot enable his brother in his fall toward the bottom. Until he finds the bottom, realizes his addiction, and gets help, there is no help for Mr. Quaid. He is his own worst enemy.
