Katherine Heigl Planning a Return to Television

Katherine Heigl is making her return to TV, but not with a new series.

The former 'Grey's Anatomy' actress will produce and star in an upcoming HBO movie.

According to Deadline, Heigl and her mother, Nancy, will co-produce an adaptation of novelist Ann Hood's best-seller 'The Knitting Circle.' The project is being written by 'Dirty Sexy Money' creator Craig Wright.

Heigl, 32, will play the main character: a mother mourning the loss of her child. She turns to a knitting circle to help overcome the grief that has taken over her life. It will be Heigl's first TV role since leaving ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' in 2010.

Controversy surrounded Heigl and the medical drama for years, especially after she famously slammed the beloved show's writers during the 2008–'09 season, and removed herself from the Emmy race. Heigl then returned to the hit series, only to leave for good in order to devote herself to film roles; her last 'Grey's' appearance was in January 2010.

Heigl also has new feature films in the works: the ensemble comedy 'New Year's Eve,' which hits theaters in December, and 'One for the Money' (co-starring John Leguizamo and Sherri Shepherd), opening in 2012.

The hard-working actress, and mom to 2-year-old daughter Naleigh, was photographed looking happy and healthy while catching some sun on a beach in Miami last month.

Thanks for letting us know. This is one HBO film I'll avoid like the plague. She is the most overrated ham in the world and she can't keep from sticking her nose where it doesn't belong.

I can appreciate this Heigl woman because she at least looks like a woman. That LeAnn Rimes used to look like a woman: now she looks like an emaciated Owen Wilson. Hiegl- you look great, but you have to stop with that dopey cigarette smoking.

For those of you who don't know.....she was one of the one's who made Battlestar Galatica rock for all 5 years that it was on. She made one hell of a cylon. Great show with a great cast. Most of you would probably blow it off merely because it was scifi though.

Katherine Heigl is hot and a great actress. What's with critics turning on celebs they used to idolize? Natalie Portman is overated if you want to know the truth. I saw Black Swan and people in the theater were actually laughing! What a joke.

How is at all those Fat ugly losers like those in Knocked Up are able to attack Heigl as is rumored in the Wood?

You're a sickly looking pasty-face . I can see why you needed to be on a Miami beach but looks like you didn't stay long enough.

"The Knitting Circle" was actually a really great book. I cried and laughed while reading. I'm an avid knitter, but because of nursing school I put my needles down, I went to the yarn shop while reading this book and started on a super hard project. I'd watch it just for the book.

Heigl is the hottest babe out there even after the baby. A real woman, not the ugly skin and bones like most of the celebrities and models.
