Khloe Kardashian Learns Why Lamar Odom Keeps His Father Distant

It's difficult to put yourself in someone else's shoes. On the series premiere of 'Khloe and Lamar,' Khloe Kardashian finally got an opportunity to peer a little deeper into the strained relationship between her husband Lamar Odom and his father Joe.

Because Khloe comes from the tight-knit Kardashian family, where everyone is involved and supportive, it's almost impossible for her to fathom why someone would want to keep a distance from a member of their immediate family.

Perhaps because of the loss of her own biological father, Lamar's distance from his father must be even tougher to understand.

But in a single phone call, where Lamar's father was coming at his son with a million different angles to try and get some money out of him, Khloe saw that Joe was nowhere near the father her father and Bruce have been to her and her siblings.

Sometimes family relationships are just broken and there isn't much you can do about it. Maybe Lamar will reach out to his father to try and help him through whatever he's dealing with, but Joe needs to be ready to be something different than he's being right now to Lamar. He needs to try and be a man and a father.

Right now, he's sad and pathetic, and you can see how it's hurting Lamar every time they talk. It hurts him that this is who his father has become, and it hurts him to tell his father no. But he knows it's what he has to do, or the situation will only get worse.

If Lamar is mad that his father Joe sucks, why does Lamar the father suck as well. He is in California. He abandoned his his children Destiny and Lamar. He has not supported Liza with the deat of their 2nd son Jayden. Yes Lama/Liza had 3 kids.

I have trouble sleeping, so I read a lot.
I have never seen this show, and probably never will.
I took the time to listen to this video,, it was horrible.
Again, I am no fan of these sisters, and never will be.
I just had to say,, this is no ones father, Lamar's step father is nothing more than a bum. I have never heard of ANYONE saying the things he said to Lamar on the phone. The man said he needed everything from a hair cut, clothes, and even telling Lamar he was hungry. It was pathetic to hear anyone begging for money like that, mostly when its suppose to be father and son.
If I had a father like that, he would not have been in my life for 5 mintues. Lamar's father has no pride what so ever, the phone conversation made me feel badly for Lamar.
Lamar, walk away from the man, hes nothing more than a user.
Hes not your real father, thank God. That gives you the right to tell him to leave you alone, forever. No one should use another person like that, mostly if its suppose to be your father.
A real father would not ever ask you for anything, a real father gives, and never takes.

You have got to be kidding me. I'm sorry. Even, if my parents were low-lifes. I could not in good conscience be a multi-millionaire and let one relative I know of, even have to ask for food or clothing. I would think they would be able to sustain housing and haircuts, as they did before the money. But, if he has to ask for things like food and clothing, I think that's pretty sad. Yes, there are those who are users. And, I'm not suggesting you allow people to take advantage of you just because they're family.

I also don't believe just because you have money you HAVE to give to others. However, you should do it if there is someone who is truly in need. If they addicts of some kind, get them help. If they don't have a job, try to help them get one. If they are living above their means, or in debt. Pay their debts off and get them a financial adviser. Let them know you will not continue to help them if they abuse what you've already done for them. But, don't pick who deserves to be blessed by your blessings. If God never gave to us for the things we've done, we would be just like your step-father.

You need to realize in a moment what you have could be taken away. God does not ask us to judge those who are poor. He asks us to give to them. I'm sure it's not giving to those "pretending to be in need when they aren't." But, giving if they truly have a need. Stepfather or not, if he took care of Lamar in any way or supported him, it shouldn't matter if he's the step-father. I love my step-father. He and my Mother divorced. He wasn't the best husband or example. But, he was a good parent to the children. He helped support us in many ways. I have a deadbeat Dad, who didn't. He's been on disability all of his life while living better than we did.

He's now old and sickly. Even, with our estranged relationship. If I came into millions, I still would not let this man suffer. Because, God will judge those losers or users. I would do what I believe God would want me to do for them. Vengence is mine saith the Lord, I will repay. Leave the animosity behind Lamar. Resolve and forgive so you can have peace in your heart. And, take care of your family. I don't know about your own children and their mother. I don't know how you treat them. But, if you're not being a good father to them. You need to look within yourself and ask why you're judging your step-father so harshly when you yourself are no different. I know this is a "reality" show. So, how much is fake, exaggerated, or done for dramatic affect we don't know.

People will be more than happy to tell you, you don't owe anyone anything. And, it's true. But, neither does God owe us anything, and yet this world with all of it's abuse and evil, still is allowed continue without being destroyed by all of the chaos going on in the Universe. Trust me, it is better to do the right thing. Then to determine who's worthy of benefitting from your doing the right thing. Let God deal with those who have the wrong kind of heart. But, you don't allow it to keep you from having a good one. That doesn't make you a doormat. You just depend on God to bless you for what you've done for others. May you and Khloe, be blessed.

This man was gone for 17 years of Lamar's life, a time when he was needed most. He did nothing for Lamar and therefore, he is owed nothing. He isn't starving, he is just trying to get money. I would do nothing for someone who did nothing for me. In face I wouldn't even consider him family.

He is paying his father's rent and gives him a monthly allowance. His dad still asks for more, I have a family member just like that...he shouldnt do anymore than that

Wow.....I really hate that for Lamar. No wonder he's not the supportive parent he is supposed to be. He had no good example and unless it will help boost ratings, Khloe isn't going to encourage him to do the right thing either.....

If you watched it you would know he does pay his father's rent and give him an allowance monthly. He does support the man and the man still wants more. The only thing Lamar is not doing is letting the moocher be in his personal life which is understandable.

Lamar is nothing like his father regardless of the same blood.
