Director Spike Jonze Trying to Reconnect with Michelle Williams

Director Spike Jonze is reportedly trying to reconnect with ex-girlfriend Michelle Williams. The couple split back in 2009.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Jonze invited Williams to watch the music group LCD Soundsystem's final performance in New York early this month but the 'Blue Valentine' actress declined the invite and said she wanted to take things slow between them.

A source is quoted saying, "Spike realizes he made a huge mistake leaving Michelle and he desperately wants her back."

The source continues, "They are making a tentative go of their relationship again but Michelle is nervous. Spike broke her heart the first time around. He's promised that he's a changed man who is ready for commitment, but Michelle has told him to prove himself before she can trust him again."

The couple started dating in July 2008 and remained together until September 2009, when Williams confirmed that the pair had split.

Williams is best known for her work in 'Dawson's Creek' and 'Brokeback Mountain.' It was on the sets of 'Brokeback' where she met actor Heath Ledger. Williams later got engaged to Ledger and gave birth to their daughter Matilda Rose in 2005.

Jonze is best known for his work on the movie 'Being John Malkovich' and the music videos he directed for the Beastie Boys.
