Cloris Leachman: 'Light on Her Feet' Kirstie Alley Will Win 'Dancing'

Hollywood veteran Cloris Leachman is convinced Kirstie Alley will win this season's 'Dancing With the Stars,' telling me she's been pleasantly surprised at how graceful the full-figured actress has been.
"I was surprised how light she is on her feet," Cloris told me on the red carpet at the TV Land Awards on Sunday. "She's going to go much further than I went in the competition and I think she is going to win."
That's high praise from Cloris, who famously shimmied her then 82-year-old body to seventh place in the 2008 season. Three years later, the Oscar winner hasn't stopped dancing.
She glided up and down the red carpet several times before taking the stage to accept an award with her ''Facts of Life' cast, including Charlotte Rae, Geri Jewell, Mindy Cohn and Kim Fields.
Busy Cloris is currently starring as Maw Maw in the FOX series 'Raising Hope' and admitted to me she only saw the first couple of episodes of this 'Dancing' season.
So while Cloris believes Kirstie has been graceful, she may change her tune after Monday's performance when the 'Cheers' star temporarily lost her shoe during a routine with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
"I'm not doing a sitcom," Alley told
TV Squad after Monday's show. "I'm actually doing a dance show. I'm tired of having to recover. I would just like to do something right. I don't feel like I'm jinxed. I just need to get my [act] together. There's something going on. Our rehearsals are swell. We're bitchin' in rehearsals."

why would you say that...put your meanness back up your butt!

Much like when Bristol Palin was on, it is not different from watching an old western where the buffalo stampede.

When is it? When is that moment ~ that particular point in time when a person's scales tip in favor of meanness? Too bad that we, as mere human beings, cannot go back in time and erase that moment, or change our thinking, or reach deep into our pockets and pull out some strength to deal with it. Brad, the world is beautiful; try and see it with different eyes.
Shallow people say shallow things....Kirstie has been dealing with adversity for a long time ...She is 60 years old ..when you hit that age shallow things take a back seat....the fat jokes would bring down allot of people but not her ...SHE IS STRONG because she is loved by many....anyway...what a boring show that would be if everyone was "Just perfect"

I'm surprised Cloris Leachman had any praise at all for Kirstie Alley. A few years back she made the statement that "all overweight people should not be allowed in public" because they were an eyesore and they disgusted her. Shame on Ms. Leachman for her intollerance. I've never been a fan of hers since then.

Kirstie Alley was a HUGE hit on DWTS. Her performance is not to be taken LIGHTLY, as her ENORMOUS score proves. She`s the BIGGEST THING on TV!

Mishaps have happened to others. Focus is placed on the negative. Give Kirstie credit for not getting rattled & continuing on beautifully. Last week's incident was not her fault. She is not a whiner. Maks appears to be enjoying himself more than ever.
The nasty remarks by some of you are uncalled for. Look in the mirror & you'll see a person who is ugly within (maybe on the outside too).
I hope this pair continues on right to the end. Good luck, Kirstie & Maks. You are perfect together.

*** You hit it right on the money....Usually Max is grouchy and talking back to the judges by now..He does seem to be having fun and smiling alot more this year.
Cloris is a riot on Raising Hope!

"THE" #1 reason I am not watching DWTS this season - The above mentioned. Sickening, just sickening.

This is why myself, my family and my colleagues NO LONGER watch this HORRIBLE show!
The people who win should not!
This woman is PLAIN GROSS!!
IT is ALL BIASED and FIXED!!

Actually it's people like YOU who are gross and ugly. Kirstie is anything BUT either of those two things, Plus she is a great dancer. Go take a long hard look in the mirror at your ugly insides and out.... you are what is disgusting about DWTS, listening to losers like you.
C`mon people, don`t be so uptight. We`re just having fun with this.Lets face it, Kirstie Alley IS overweight.Case closed.

I admire her courage! She is a beautiful woman, and people need to get over themselves and their belief that they are in any position to judge another.

It appears that Ms. Leachman has had a change of heart...perhaps you should also?
