Demi Lovato Opens Up About Eating Disorder

When
Demi Lovato entered a rehab facility for unspecified "emotional and physical issues" in November 2010, many fans were left questioning what pushed the young star over the edge.
Now, in a candid interview with
Seventeen, Lovato comes clean about the real reasons she reached out for help. Lovato admits that a
fight with a dancer on her tour was only part of the problem, and that her battle with an eating disorder played a larger part in her decision to seek treatment.
"I don't think there's going to be a day when I don't think about food or my body, but I'm living with it, and I wish I could tell young girls to find their safe place and stay with it," says the actress.
The young star, who juggled a hectic career as a musician with the lead role on the hit Disney show 'Sonny With a Chance,' says she's found a balance in her life that she hopes to maintain.
"I allow myself a lot of freedom and I'm very peaceful now," she says.
Despite her positive outlook, the actress realizes that her battle with self-acceptance is an ongoing journey.
"There have been times when I definitely have been tempted to get rid of my dinner," the 18-year-old star admits. "I will deal with it for the rest of my life because it's a life-long disease."
Her advice for girls going through similar struggles? "It's very crucial that you get your feelings out – but don't ever inflict harm on your own body because your body is so sacred," says Lovato.
"If you are going through that dark period, go to your family and closest friends," she says. "Don't put yourself in danger."

Good for Demi for speaking out publicly about her E.D. Hopefully, it will help Demi to heal as well as help other young women and give them "hope/"encouragement". I don't doubt that Demi did have issues w/bulimia as well as cutting. These two things QUITE OFTEN go "hand-in-glove". I battled anorexia & cutting for 15 years off & on...mainly on and whenever I'd gain a couple of much needed weight (and was still very, very severely underweight w/BMI of 12.8) I felt "fat" and that's when the cutting began. Someone would say I was looking better (if I gained 4or 5 lbs) & it made me angry and I felt fat and resorted to cutting and the cutting even continued AFTER I'd gained a little bit of weight. It's a vicous cycle and even now I still "restrict" a lot.

As a engineer of technology and a digital art creator I work towards clear air for all but in terms of eating disorders
almost none are fatal, nor the persons sole problem if at all.

Neurotic people of Hollywood.....WHO is responsible for anyone thinking and believing they are not perfect? After all, Hollywood turns out perfect plastic people all the time. Talentless, but perfectly plastic, non the less. The only REAL benefit they get is the big bucks. The vast majority are without self worth or so over the top with ego--believing everyone CARES WHAT THE MATTER with thenm is, when in reality most people could really care less.
