Demi Lovato: Catherine Zeta-Jones is 'So Brave'
Demi Lovato commended fellow actress
Catherine Zeta-Jone's "brave" decision to receive treatment for a mental disorder this week.
According to
PEOPLE, Lovato took to Twitter on Thursday to show support for Zeta-Jones.
"I don't know Catherine Zeta-Jones personally but what she has decided to do it SO brave," Lovato
tweeted. "And SO difficult but worth it... I'm proud of her."
A rep for Zeta-Jones released a
statement on Wednesday on behalf of her client. "After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II Disorder."
Zeta-Jone's husband,
Michael Douglas, was diagnosed with Stage 4 throat cancer last year, and is currently in
remission after receiving treatment. Adding to her stress, her stepson, Cameron Douglas, was
sentenced to five years in prison for drug-related charges just months before Douglas' cancer diagnosis.
Like Zeta-Jones, Lovato recently
completed a rehab stay herself where she was treated for "emotional and physical issues." She decided to seek help after she was involved in a "
physical altercation" with a dancer last October.
The 'Sonny With a Chance' star recently
opened up about her treatment, urging those who need help to lean on supportive friends and family.
"If you are going through that dark period, go to your family and closest friends," she told
Seventeen. "Don't put yourself in danger."

It's easy to be brave when you're a multi millionaire. The real brave people are those who are surviving on minimum wage.

Oh DEMI! Your such a loser. Get the attention you need in a rehab facility, NOT the media.

Yeah it must suck to have millions in the bank and get depressed over it. I think she is an alcoholic and they say she is depressed instead cause it sounds so much better. In any case if she stresses over Douglas..thats her own fault to marry some old geezer and then reproduce and worry he may not be there to see those kids grow up. You made your bed. lts a no brainer right from the get go that you end up a single, now crazy..mom. Poor kids.

Can someone please give me several million dollars so I can be depressed? Thank You

Good for Catherine Zeta-Jones for getting help, regardless of how much money she has or doesnt have. Money can help yes, but it doesnt help everything... remember how his millions didnt help Michael Landon? I think its great that she is getting help. I needed help once myself and was grateful to have had it.

Catherine is brave for stepping forward and saying it. So is Demi; I saw Demi's story last night on ABC's 20/20 with Robin Roberts. I personally applaud them both because illnesses like these turn anyone into a Silent Sufferer.
I can relate because I suffered from (standard) depression during different times of my life, including honorable service and being laid off this time last year. It's not an easy thing to say to someone, even those you trust, that you're depressed or suffering from an illness because either they don't understand it or, there's the continued stigma/connotations tied to the illness. (I'm doing better now because, if it hits again, it doesn't affect me like it used to.)
Anyone that said it's an attention or money thing, or just tied to being famous -- let's just hope it never happens to you; you'll be sadly mistaken. Also, let's go one more: If it was about money, attention, or fame, would it have saved the two Minnesota girls that recently hanged themselves during a sleepover? What about Clay Hunt, a fellow veteran like me? (use "Clay Hunt suicide" as a keyword)
