Designer John Galliano Fired From Own Label

Designer John Galliano has been let go from his namesake company, Women's Wear Daily reports.

The John Galliano label, 91 percent of which is owned by Dior, fired Galliano following his arrest and subsequent firing from Dior earlier this year.

Dior released a statement, saying the House of Galliano "is not an immediate priority," according to WWD (via Huffington Post), and touched on the future of the fashion line.

"It is understood the in-house design team at John Galliano, which shares members with Dior's, will be charged with producing collections at a house prized for bias-cut dresses, newspaper prints and retro-tinged tailoring. A pre-spring collection is already said to be in the works."

John Galliano held its read-to-wear fashion show last month in Paris, with the designer noticeably missing.

Galliano was arrested in February for allegedly spewing multiple racist remarks toward patrons in a Paris bar. He was fired from the Dior label in March, but it was unclear if he would remain on-board at his namesake label.

Many outraged individuals spoke out about Galliano's remarks, including Natalie Portman, who chose to wear Rodarte over Dior when she accepted her Best Actress Oscar this year.

"I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano's comments that surfaced today," Portman said in a statement after the incident. "In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way."

Galliano flew to Los Angeles last weekend and received a cool welcome, with reporters spewing their own remarks, including calling him a "f***ing racist."
