'Judas,' the much-anticipated second single from Lady Gaga's forthcoming album 'Born This Way,' found its way onto the Internet earlier today, and now the singer, in an apparent attempt to jump ahead of the leak, has released the song to iTunes four days before the planned April 19 release date.
The video for the song is already being talked up, sight unseen. The video's co-director and Gaga's creative director, Laurieann Gibson, told MTV the video will be "groundbreaking," though she also admitted the controversial subject matter nearly caused her to back out of the project. Listen:
In the clip, Gaga reportedly plays Mary Magdalene. Without seeing so much as a picture of the singer costumed as the biblical figure, Catholic League President Bill Donohue told Hollywood Life, "She thinks she is going to be groundbreaking. She is trying to ripoff Christian idolatry to shore up her talentless, mundane and boring performances. This is a stunt."
Of the song itself, Rolling Stone, which got an early listen, says, "'Judas' is a classic Lady Gaga pop banger with three huge hooks, a thumping house music breakdown and a vocal part that borrows a bit of Rihanna's distinctive cadence. Gaga has written about falling for the wrong guy before in 'LoveGame' and 'Bad Romance,' but this time around she's a bit less dark and dramatic."
But our friends at Vulture perhaps put it best: "Anyway: If we were zooted out of our minds at five in the morning on a dance floor in the sketchy part of Berlin right now, this would almost definitely be the greatest song we'd ever heard."
POLAR PATROL, I don't know much about punctuation. I do know that that yours suck also. A question id always followed by a question mark. Also, people that pull peoples chain for punctuation suck. So you are stupid and suck both.
I've also noticed that more and more people who send text messages and emails have long forgotten the “art" of capitalization. Those of you, who fall into this world, please take note of the statement below. I cannot stress enough how grammar is very important to it. "Capitalization is the difference between helping... your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse."
That's kinda silly, if that were true, then you'd hardly hear anything negative about movies like Transformers or the batman or superman series or music from artistes that are big. Those movies/abums will surely make a lot of money no matter how mediocre they were like the 2nd transformer movie, but critics still say negative stuff about them.
Nice ignorant remark. Professional critics are paid to be experts in the music business. They get paid to be RIGHT about what makes a hit and what doesn't. They aren't always right 100% of the time but when they're mostly wrong, they get fired.
it's alright. The verses are horrible and you cant understand what shes saying shes sounds like shes speaking a different language. Like "Judas" part I kind of like. But the beat just hurts my ears its horrible. But what pisses me off is she said ehr album was going to sound like Guns N Roses'...and it doesnt at all.
She said ONE song on the album would sound like Guns n Roses, and that will be "You and I" which is produced by Mutt Lange who produced AC/DC and Def Leppard, to name a few.
What a shock. Rolling Stone says that in Judas, Lady Gaga "borrows" a bit of Rihanna's cadence. Yeah, just like in Born This Way, she "borrowed" Madonna's Express Yourself.
I miss the Gaga who used to wear leotards all the time..The "Just Dance" Gaga. I like that she is different and not afraid to speak her mind but she has just kept going off the deepend. The last video I really loved was Bad Romance.
Let me ask this: how many of you that are criticizing the song hate it for other reasons beside it being a song from Gaga. I'll be the first to admit that she is probably one of the weirdest pop stars out there and her lyrics can make no sense it times. But give the woman a break and look past the act and view her as an artist. She at least pens her own songs and worked her way up to the top by starting at the bottom. At first I thought it sucked. But a second listen and I got into it. This type of catchy music is why I like Gaga when I need a break from the alt. rock I listen to on a daily basis. Kind of reminds me of Bad Romance in a sense.

OMG you use acronyms but not punctuation, aren't you cool. Who can be bothered with apostrophes and periods these days, anyhow.

Who are these "critics" saying this music is great? This Blows and so did Born This Way.
They're just talking her up cause they know it's gonna sell and no one wants to be the one to say just because it's a hit doesn't mean it's good.

Gee, thanks Elleh! I've NEVER heard that criticism before! You're the FIRST to point that out!
Do you ever think for yourself?
Music constantly borrows from previous works. And she's made it no secret that Madonna is a big influence for her. Get over it!
She was off to a good start, but now she's just throwing some "music" and lyrics together and hoping for a hit. This song sucks.

Agree. If this album sucks, I'll just get over Lady Gaga and move on cause so far, this song is pretty lame.
"She is trying to ripoff Christian idolatry to shore up her talentless, mundane and boring performances. This is a stunt."
I agree with him. Pretty astute observation.

Dancing to this would suck. The ONLY thing that's interesting is how this got "leaked to the internet" four days before a timed release!
