Kara DioGuardi: I Was Date Raped by Well-Known Music Producer

In her soon-to-be-released memoir, former 'American Idol' judge Kara DioGuardi reveals she was molested as a child and date raped by a well-known music producer, E!Online.com reports.

In the book, 'A Helluva High Note,' DioGuradi opens up about a family friend's son who repeatedly molested her when she was only 11. "On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina," she writes. "I remember freezing and not knowing what to do."

DioGuardi, whose new Bravo show 'Platinum' debuts next month, also reveals how a well-known producer date raped her after dinner. "Within a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand," she writes.

The former 'Idol' judge said she never told anyone for fear it would affect her career.

DioGuardi also reveals in her book that a "hugely successful artist" sexually harassed her a few years later. She was invited on a three-day songwriting trip but instead of actually writing songs, "the trip's activities consisted of watching Russian porn, scavenging around the kitchen for food [and] leering at two strippers ... as they performed sex acts in the living room."

She also discusses her struggles with getting pregnant during her final season of 'Idol.' She ended up asking the producers to let her out of her contract. "I wanted a child and there was no way I could get pregnant under the stress of eighteen-hour work days and live TV," she writes. "I had undergone three unsuccessful rounds of IVF during Season 9."

Mongo, don't you think kids these days are much more informed then say kids back in the 70's & 80's and know more between right and wrong. I don't think anyone is making light of anything, and I don't think she should be considered a "hero' as you stated. You're right when you say tell a teacher, parent, etc., but I still say why bring the media into it.

I for one am tired of the celebrities who honestly believe that the things that occur in their lives are all that different than that which occurs in the lives of just about everyone on the planet! We all have things in our past that our unpleasant, but we don't feel we need to write a book about them and make a quick buck off past difficulties or unpleasantness. Half the time I wonder if some of these stories are even true. After all, anyone can say just about anything and whose going to dispute them? And while we're at it, from the sound of things I figure that I must be the only one on the plant who was NOT sexually molested as a child!

Im sorry this happened to you Kara. I was also molested as a child twice!!! i dont know why people do what they do but guess what they will have to answer to God for what they did!! I hope you heal from this just turn to the Lord he is helping me with this. Joyce Meyer is very helpful too. God Bless you. :)

I find it hard to believe that if she was raped by a family friend all those time that her father (an attorney who ran for office) could not have used the law to prosecute the so called family friends son. There is no restriction on time for rape and if she was really genuine, she could still prosecute any of these so called rapist's and abuser's. ALL B.S. to sell her stupid new show

There IS a statute of limitations on rape. I saw it on Law and Order.

Ok maybe there is a statute but statute on making it clear that these people should be brought out in the open so they cannot do it agin. My guess is that she is not sure enough of herself that she might get sued! Sorry, A phony in my eyes with only herself getting ahead at stake

This is a woman that ripped her shirt open during season 9 at the last show when she walked out on stage. I guess she was really showing the world what happen in the backyard shed. She's a dirty liar.

I have a problem with people who don't see the benefit of getting things out in the open and cleared up. I can work most guys in the ground that are half my age and with a broken back and other injuries too! I can hunt fish trap and go shootin on the range. Can play tag football and cheer the favorite team. But I will never forget what it felt like to be a little child and be molested, and if some arrogant self serving producer gets jollies by date raping hopeful young women or boys then he needs to be exposed. I went into counselling drug addicts and alcoholics and I have found after working with hundreds of people over the years that many were not able to move on and disentigrated emotionally. So hats off Kara, don't know you but hold your head up and tell the story because all the people I work with will know they are not the only one and that someone out there understands. Books for those who don't read or understand why we need to read share information both good and bad. The intelligent person judges the message whether it is truth and leaves judging the writer to God.
