Robert Pattinson and newlywed Reese Witherspoon didn't let the rain put a damper on the star-studded premiere of 'Water for Elephants' in New York Saturday night.

"That's incredible," Witherspoon told MTV about the fans who waited for hours in the rain -- some almost an entire day -- just to see them. "That was very sweet, their dedication to the movie and the book, and to Rob."

"Let's not kid ourselves," she joked about Pattinson's 'Twilight' following. "They like me. I'm OK. I'm a consolation prize."

Pattinson admitted he enjoys the "nice" fans that visit on-set but isn't always a fan of working the red carpet.

"It's kinda work, it's kinda fun," he said. "You only get to do it a few times a year."

Witherspoon jumped in, telling her co-star, "You do it more than the average person, actually! I don't do it a couple times a year. I do it once a year, maybe."
