Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino Branches Out to Web TV With New Contest and Series

The Situation is continuing to parlay his 'Jersey Shore' fame into new forums, joining YOBI.tv to host an acting contest. Thousands of competitors are currently fighting for a shot to win a paid role in a web series with The Situation; Audrina Patridge is hosting a similar contest.

"I can't wait to start filming the web series this summer," The Situation tells PopEater. "After doing reality TV, it'll be cool to get to play a character that's completely different from myself. Asher [Levin] has written a hilarious script. I'll be playing a hip-hop star who gets chosen to be a judge on an 'American Idol'-style show. It's going to be a situation!"

Filmmaker K. Ashley Levin will write and direct the web show. The plot is summarized thusly:

Random Talent is a hilarious spoof of TV talent shows. Mike will play the role of a famous hip-hop star who is asked -- begged, actually -- by the producer to be the lead judge. The burden of keeping Mike's character happy falls to the second judge, played by YOBILaugh Season One Winner Ben Green, who was sent from England (where the show originated) to create a successful US version based in Detroit.

"You all choose who should be famous pretty much with your votes," Sitch says in an intro video. According to the contest rules, one male and one female will be selected. The web series will film in Michigan this summer. See The Situation introduce the ~~situation~~ scenario here:
