Black Eyed Peas To Open Music Academy in New York

The Black Eyed Peas will open a music academy in New York City this summer, the
Associated Press reports.
The school, for students ages 13 to 19, will teach video and music production using professional-quality equipment. Students will be admitted based on recommendations from teachers and their interest in camera work, editing and graphic design.
Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Music and Multimedia Academy is a collaborative effort between the Peas'
Peapod Foundation and the
Adobe Foundation, a charity run by Adobe Systems Inc., makers of industry-standard software like Acrobat, Flash and Photoshop.
The Peapod Foundation and the Adobe Foundation already run three academies in California. The East Coast endeavor will open its door in July.
The Youth Voices academy will be housed in a facility that runs after-school arts programs for teenagers attending schools in high-poverty areas.
"Our passion for music and media was fueled by many generous people on our road to success," Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am told the
AP. "Expanding the network of Peapod Adobe Youth Voices academies enables us to pay it forward, giving more youth the skills and encouragement they need to realize their dreams."

I think that's such a great thing. If I lived in the US I would totally apply for this. Well done BEP.

I'm surprised they can get any sort of gig after sounding like absolute sh*t at the Superbowl. I wouldn't pay to see them!

This has got to be one of the lowest points in the history of music. The thought of these non-music no talent jokes openning a music academy is an utter disgrace. What in gods name could they possible teach anyone and who in gods name that ever aspired to be a musician would ever go to this BS joke of an academy. What a sad sad sad day in this nation and an insult to every musician that's studied, practice, and worked his azz off for years to perfect his craft.

Are they teaching them how to sing live and not sound as if you couldn't hit a note if you tried!

Why all the negativity? Maybe they aren't the most talented group but at least they are trying to do something positive. I was taught as a child if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Some of you people should follow suit..
