Darren Criss, the emerging star who plays Kurt's boyfriend Blaine on FOX's hit 'Glee,' feels like he should apologize to Beyonce for the Warbler's cover of Destiny's Child's 1999 hit 'Bills, Bills, Bills.'
"I feel like I have to write her an apology now," he told 'Access Hollywood.' "I mean, come on, Beyonce's the queen of pop music. She's the queen. If you could run for queen ... I would put her name in the suggestion box. She's incredible. I tried to do it as best as I could."
Criss has proven to be this season's breakout star. He is Billboard's current cover boy and there have even been rumors of a spin-off for his character.
Just this week, 'Glee: The Music Presents The Warblers' was released. The soundtrack features songs by the Dalton Academy Warblers, the vocal group that recently competed against (and lost to) William McKinley High School's New Directions on the hit show. The group's rendition of 'Bills, Bills, Bills' appears on the album alongside Criss' rendition of Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream,' which usurped the cast's cover of Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'' to become the most downloaded tune ever from the hit-machine series.
Watch 'Bills, Bills, Bills' and let us know in the comments if you think 'Glee' did a disservice to Beyonce and the gang (we think they did a pretty solid job):
"I'm just happy to be invited to the party. A spin-off, whatever they want," Criss said of the rumors. "I'm happy where I am. I think Blaine serves a really cool function in the grander scheme of 'Glee,' so I don't think we need to focus particularly -- you know, but if they want to do it, hey, I'm down! Whatever they want."
While a spin-off is only conjecture at the moment, Criss is confirmed as a mentor on Oxygen's upcoming 'The Glee Project,' premiering June 12, and will hit the road with his castmates for 'Glee's' summer arena tour.
I have listened to him sing live four times, and have determined that he really isn't that good. He always needs back up singers to make it sound in tune. I am not impressed AT ALL.
Glee started to slide downhill when Kurt decided to join that other school with the incredibly bad blazers. Can't stand the effete, simpering Blaine and there's doubt about what he brings to the table singing-wise. The whole show goes limp whenever the scene switches to Blaine and the School With Bad Blazers. Meanwhile, back at McKinley High, why is the good-looking kid dating that fat girl ? That's his girl friend ? Really ? i don't get it. And, finally, i know we can't stop The Gwyneth, but is there a way we can possibly contain her ?
Well, Jay, the "good looking guy" is dating the "fat girl" (and each of them are enjoying the relationship) so close minded people will stop thinking "I don't get it" when you see things like that in real life. Or, you'll stop thinking anyone who's gay is "simpering" - Blaine is actually very self aware and confident, and I've never seen him do anything that made me think "simpering". I guess it's all about the lenses we all see things through, and this show has the balls to try and change people's steriotypical perceptions. I'm just sayin'....
I agree, it has just gone downhill this year, what happened, i cannnot stand that Blaine and now with Britney and Santana being lesbians it just ridiculous, and then last night they made one of the other teachers gay.
what do you expect ? it's a frickin glee club, there are going to be more gays than straights for sure. what's next ? gay dancers ? gay waiters ? hello. none of them can sing without help anyway. boring show. ps, yes i'm gay too.
yea, i don't mind it, but it is in your face in every scene, they should just change the title of the show to "Gay", it started out strong and Murphy just wants to make the whole show about being gay, it's gotten boring.
No, it's actually str8 relationships thrown in our face in every scene: Quinn and Finn, Quinn and Puck, Quinn and Sam, Finn and Rachel, Rachel and Puck, Santana and Puck, Tina and Artie, Tina and Mike, Will and Terri, Will and Emma, Will and Holly Holiday, Santana and Sam, Puck and Lauren, Dr. Carl and Emma, Brittney and Artie...
I think the show is wildly entertaining. It let's a lot of kids out there know that people recognize the struggles they go through as teenagers...AND I think he has a great voice! Glee has always been over-the-top...why change now? L-O-V-E the show!!
OK I tried to watch this show since my daugh begged me and I find it CORNY! My daugh and I wish the actress would stay off the show trying to sing...Paltrow is HORRIBLE! Next X-Stina (Aguilera) and JHud have the soulfulness to pull off ReRe (Aretha to those who aren't fam) BUT the girl didn't sound good. She sounded like a high schooler trying to sing ReRe (way above her yrs and experience). She can sing, just not ReRe! My fave singer on this show is the girl I call the baby Adina Menzel (Wicked actress who can BLOW, plus I grew up on Journey)! Apologize to Beyonce? Well I said B's music has been relegated to You Tube (and SNL) spoofs and Glee apologies.....NOW will B go away and have a baby or something like little sis hahaha
Alot of you obviously aren't in school anymore...I'm a senior and almost finished and these Gay 'issues', as everyone seems to be calling them now are relevent. There are so many teens at my school that experiment with the other sex,so yes this is out there teens are getting bullied for it! I don't find the show corny because I've seen some of these issues! Also I like Darren Criss and find him very talented.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos
