Darren Criss, the emerging star who plays Kurt's boyfriend Blaine on FOX's hit 'Glee,' feels like he should apologize to Beyonce for the Warbler's cover of Destiny's Child's 1999 hit 'Bills, Bills, Bills.'
"I feel like I have to write her an apology now," he told 'Access Hollywood.' "I mean, come on, Beyonce's the queen of pop music. She's the queen. If you could run for queen ... I would put her name in the suggestion box. She's incredible. I tried to do it as best as I could."
Criss has proven to be this season's breakout star. He is Billboard's current cover boy and there have even been rumors of a spin-off for his character.
Just this week, 'Glee: The Music Presents The Warblers' was released. The soundtrack features songs by the Dalton Academy Warblers, the vocal group that recently competed against (and lost to) William McKinley High School's New Directions on the hit show. The group's rendition of 'Bills, Bills, Bills' appears on the album alongside Criss' rendition of Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream,' which usurped the cast's cover of Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'' to become the most downloaded tune ever from the hit-machine series.
Watch 'Bills, Bills, Bills' and let us know in the comments if you think 'Glee' did a disservice to Beyonce and the gang (we think they did a pretty solid job):
"I'm just happy to be invited to the party. A spin-off, whatever they want," Criss said of the rumors. "I'm happy where I am. I think Blaine serves a really cool function in the grander scheme of 'Glee,' so I don't think we need to focus particularly -- you know, but if they want to do it, hey, I'm down! Whatever they want."
While a spin-off is only conjecture at the moment, Criss is confirmed as a mentor on Oxygen's upcoming 'The Glee Project,' premiering June 12, and will hit the road with his castmates for 'Glee's' summer arena tour.
First of all, I absolutely love this cover. I think Darren Criss did an amazing job. Secondly I think people need to relax about the amount of gay subject matter in the show. This show is trying to change that stereotypical and closed minded type of thinking. People are so offended by it because they have not been exposed to it, which is truly a shame. Society needs to be more open minded and accept that not everyone is skinny and straight. I for one am thankful that "Glee" has chosen to address these issues, and I am very glad it's not the same old high school T.V shows that are constantly getting put on and taken off the air (OC, 90210, etc.)
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos
