Halle Berry Talks About Custody Battle for Her Daughter

Actress Halle Berry has never talked about her custody battle with ex Gabriel Aubry before, but in an interview with 'Extra,' the 43-year-old actress finally opened up and talked about the court proceedings without giving exact details.

"It's been a year full of challenges. When there's a child involved, it's a relief when you can resolve things in a good way," Berry said. "Our issues were never about fighting for her. We both know a child needs both her parents."

She continued, "But what I want to say about it is sometimes, as a couple, you reach an impasse. We need a court and a judge to help us work out some of the delicate issues, and I'm so happy we've arrived at that place -- because for her sake, this is the best way. We both love her more than life."

The Oscar winner has been in a long and at times contentious custody battle with French-Canadian model Aubry, the father of their 3-year-old daughter, Nahla. The couple split in April 2010.

Berry recently pulled out of her Broadway debut in the production of 'Mountaintop' and the producers attributed it to her "custody issues."

But PEOPLE is reporting that a source close to the actress has revealed that the information is incorrect. "She didn't pull out of the play because of custody issues. She had a conflict of work," a source said.

The source also talked about the custody battle. "Halle was never going for full custody. That wasn't what it was about. Whatever the outcome, she wasn't trying for that. There were just other issues that they couldn't resolve and therefore the courts had to intervene."

Berry has been dating actor Olivier Martinez since last fall.

Two people with failed values and apparantly totally into their own desires. I can only feel sorry for what I think they will put into the child to work with.
Perhaps they might start by teaching the kid that fooling around on the basis of good looks and charming mannerisms just don't work.
Loyalty is deepr than that. I mean is there a social structure in a marriage or is it a big birthday party?
Poor kid;pray for her; she's already in a cultural hole which she may dig herself out of one day.

A mature and experience woman/mother knows that a blended family is far better for a child as long as the child is always,let me repeat that, always in a safe environment! Instinctively, a good mother knows who and what she is dealing with, meaning the father. If the father's love is unselfish, then a baby should have a relationship with her father. If he thinks only of himself, then situations have to be closely monitored. The love of both parents is essential for a child's overall developement in life. A father's approach is usually from a protective nature. Little girls feel this at a very early age. They feel safe with a loving father. They feel very nurtured with a loving mother. Children are most happiest when they see mommy and daddy ,despite separation, still talk, laugh, respect and love one another.
In conclusion, the mother will innately decide what is best.

I think Gabriel needs to pay for a good nanny to chaperone Nahla when she visits him, just in case something happens. These days you can’t be too careful with who’s watching your children because of child molestations and kidnapings. Gabriel is a very attractive guy but still too horny to settle down and watch kids. If Gabriel can’t afford to pay for Nahla to have a good nanny then maybe he’s having money issues, these days we all are. If he’s having money issues then he should pay a certain amount money for Nahla’s child care. Or is Gabriel falling in love with high profile women to have pretty babies and a child support check? Gabriel let Halle go to work so she can pay her bills.
