Tim Robbins Loses Both Parents in Two-Week Span

Tim Robbins' life has been full of professional highs, but the actor recently suffered a devastating personal loss.

PEOPLE reports that Robbins' parents, Gil and Mary Robbins, both passed away within two weeks of each other in their Esteban Cantu, Mexico home.

The 52-year-old actor's father, Gil Robbins, a member of folk group the Highwaymen, succumbed to prostate cancer on April 5th at age 80 and Mary Robbins, his wife of 59 years, died of a heart arrhythmia on the 17th. She was 78 years old.

In addition to his career as a musician, Gil Robbins acted in a number of films directed by and starring his son, including 'Bob Roberts,' 'Dead Man Walking,' and 'Cradle Will Rock.'

Mary Robbins, a flautist, had earned a Bachelor's degree in holistic nutrition and beaten colon cancer prior to her death.

Tim Robbins described his mother as having, "a calm and cheerful demeanor, a sharp wit, a gentle spirit and a generous and loving heart."

I think people are being optimistic when they think you possess human qualities. Just for the record - liberals are pretty nice people. I should know. I'm one of them and most people like me. You ought to try it some time. Life's a lot easier and nicer when you don't spend all your time criticizing others. But then what would you conservatives do if you couldn't criticize everything?

My thoughts are with you. I lost my mother August 10,1998 10 days after me 36th birthday and lost my father November 19,2008. I hope you will heal in time. Bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

It's difficult to lose both parents so close together. However, it is not unusual. My parents were so close in life, we knew that when one died the other would not live long alone. Our mother died in January; our father died of a broken heart in May. Bless you Tim. Remember them together and the beautiful music they gave to you - and to us all.

May your parents rest in peace. They were together in life for 59 years and now they will be together for eternity.
I lost my parents 9 days apart from each other and it is not easy but my heart is lightened to know that they are together after many, many years together.

Liberal's SUCK! Always have, always will. Robbin's is no different.

Tim Robbins is standard bleeding heart wealth distributor only with everyone else's money but his, I could care less about people like him. Don't feel a bit sad for him and actually he should join his folks too.

Losing one parent is hard enough. I know, because I lost both of my
parents. Fortunately though, it was 20 years apart. I just couldn't
imagine in a million years, how it would feel, if I lost both my parents within a 2 week period! That has got to be the worst feeling. Just indescribably the most difficult task that has to be done - to bury one parent then another parent just two weeks later!
I feel horrible for Tim Robbins. He's such a wonderful actor, and has done a lot of great things for charity, etc. He didn't deserve this.. Nobody deserves this but on the other hand, when God calls you home there's no bartering allowed!

I remember your sisters and brother very well. You were just about nine or ten then. I had and still have deep affection for all of you. My deepest condolence to you and your sisters and brother.
