Donald Trump Lashes Out at Jerry Seinfeld Over Charity Event

All is not well between
Donald Trump and J
erry Seinfeld. The comedian reportedly pulled out from an event appearance and Trump called him out in an open letter.
According to
Page Six, Seinfeld was scheduled to attend a Sept. 13 event for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Eric Trump Foundation. However, he has since canceled his appearance due to Trump's negative remarks about President Obama.
"I just learned you canceled a show for my son's charity," Trump wrote to Seinfeld, "because of the fact that I am being very aggressive with respect to President Obama, who is doing an absolutely terrible job as our leader."
Trump, who is considering a 2012 presidential run, didn't stop reprimanding the comedian there.
"We don't care that you broke your commitment," he continued, "even though the children of St. Jude are very disappointed, and despite the fact that your manager clearly stated you are 'truly a man of his word.'"
Adding insult to injury, Trump took a shot at Seinfeld's NBC show, 'The Marriage Ref,' which Trump appeared on last year.
"What I do feel badly about is that I agreed to do, and did, your failed show, 'The Marriage Ref,' even though I thought it was absolutely terrible," Trump wrote. "Despite its poor ratings, I didn't cancel on you like you canceled on my son and St. Jude. I only wish I did."
A rep for Seinfeld said he agreed to appear at the event before Trump began
questioning the authenticity of Obama's birth certificate. However, "Jerry has grown increasingly uncomfortable" with the 'Apprentice' head honcho.
"Jerry ... feels this kind of demagoguery has no place in public discourse," said the rep. "He has respectfully withdrawn from the event, and is making a contribution both to the Eric Trump Foundation and to [St. Jude]."
Former 'Apprentice' contestant
Bret Micheals is slated to fill Seinfeld's place, and the rocker released a statement to
Hollywood Life.
"Donald Trump and his family have been wonderful to me and St. Jude's Children's Hospital is one of my favorite charities, so I'm honored to have been asked by Eric and the rest of the Trump family to be a part of this event and help raise money for such an admirable cause," he said, adding a slight dig at Seinfeld. "We should never allow the spirit of generosity to be overshadowed by divisive political beliefs -- and when it comes to saving the life of a child, there is absolutely no room for political rhetoric."

Get real. Have you been on Earth these past twenty+ years? Donald Trump does nothing, NOTHING (get it?) in this world unless it benefits HIM or draws attention to HIM or one of his endeavors. His diatribes against the President of the United States were NOWHERE three months ago. He was too busy trying to drum up some other sort of controversy. Trump THRIVES on controversy. It's the only thing that keeps him in the public eye, and that would most certainly include all his moronic ventures into low-brow media, i.e. The Apprentice and it's spawn involving has-been celebrities, and the Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, both of which he's been accused of rigging. Now he's succeeded in drawing more attention to the Trump BRAND by badmouthing the President via prepared scripts that he has to read from, much like an 8th grader would resort to at a science fair. Trump's rants coddle to a carefully chosen demographic and undermine the integrity of the office of the Presidency of this country, no matter how you feel about Mr. Obama. He always brags of his wealth and education yet it doesn't take a GED to see through his ruse of running for the Presidency. In Trump's world, controversy creates wealth. Seinfeld, and other non-scarecrows of this country, apparently have had enough of this scam. Jerry took the action he felt was appropriate, standing up for what he felt was right. His donation to St Jude's was for the children, not Trump. In the end Trump chose to use Seinfeld's decision to HIS benefit, not St. Jude's. What else would you expect?
SINCE WHEN DID POLITICS HAVE TO BE INVOLVED WITH A CHARITY EVENT AND CHILDREN? I FOR ONE WILL NOT BE WATCHING ANY MORE SEINFIELD SHOWS EVEN THOUGH I REALLY LIKE THEM. I THINK MR SEINFELD IS BEING A BABY ABOUT THIS WHOLE THING.

We watch every night and this just shows how little the important things are to him.
Besides that..If someone doesn't care about where a president is born then anyone can run this country right? So an illegal alien who sneaked over the border from Mexico one dark stormy night has the same rights? Wow. What a country.
What he thinks of Trump politically is irrelevant in this case. This is a fundraiser for St Judes and children, has no politics tied to the event and Seinfeld is a jerk for not appearing for these children. And I voted for Obama so get a life Jerry and support these heroic kids and show something like these kids welfare is more important than divisive politics.

I like Jerry Seinfeld but in this case he is wrong. You don't cancel a charity event that is for children with cancer because of your political beliefs. You put that aside for the children. Everyone has a right to their opinions and their political beliefs but you shouldn't let your political beliefs get in the way of helping children with cancer. A check with his name on it is not enough. He agreed to be there so he shouldn't go back on his word.

If anyone reads the news anymore Jerry gave a sizable donation to Trump's son charity. Donald Trump is an idiot and I cant stand him. Someone needs to question whenever his wife is legal and has a birth certificate. Trump is unamerica. He cant even marry an American woman. He gets golddigging mail order brides from Russian.

Who ever votes for this nut for president of the United States needs to have their frickin heads examined. What a loser.

Exactly..! Look at the mess we are in now because of the idiots who voted wrong
All Seinfeld had to do was state that he thoroughly disagrees with the views of Trump on the birth certificate and go to the charity event for the Kids not Trump. Now Seifeld looks like he is bailing on kids with needs . Smooth move Jerry- need better advisors dont you! Trump is a loudmouth jerk and Im not a Obama or democrat fan

Jerry Seinfeld should not have backed out of the charity event. This event had nothing to do with politics, "it's about kids". For shame, Jerry.
Jerry signed up it and he should have appeared, I'm sure many of the people (parents, doctors, etc.)involved with this were not only disappointed, but saddened by Jerry's decision to rescind without even thinking about the children.

Thanks Jerry, it's people like you that have the nerve and the right to express your opinion as well. Donald Trump talks and braggs about all the money he has, why doesn't he spend some of it and he wouldn't need charitable donations. I just wander if there is anything to the statement '' therte are some things money can't buy? ''.

Jerry is really over the hill. His last show stunk!!!! His Tv show was a success because of his co-actors, but it sure went to his head. Be glad hes not going to the fund raiser, and for you who feel strongly about this,,, don't support the Jerry fund. Ignore his shows, and his appearances.

I find myself so opposite to this man. Mr. Trump is the most distgusting person I can think of.

It's really messed up that he would pull out of a charity even for children with cancer just because of political differences. That just goes to show what kind of person he is. I never liked him to begin with but now I really can't respect him.

This was Eric Trump's, Donalds son's event. Seinfeld is a scmuck. As for political cheap shots he was at the elbow of and laughing at 'sir Pauls' snipe at our past president's inability to read to our current president in the White House . W's wife was a librarian by the way. Seinfeld rigteouness is pretty weak

How about taking a collection so Trump can get that dead animal removed from his head

Rather than criticizing Seinfeld, you should consider Trump's "divisive political beliefs" (to quote Bret Michaels)which he trumpeted in the same breath as his son's benefit for St. Jude's. Had he thought of anyone but himself, he would not have alienated people with his big mouth. Seinfeld has worked with many people of different political opinions--however, Trump's vicious words have driven many people away. You can criticize the President--but not trash the office of the President.
