Lindsay Lohan Posts Bail, Leaves Jail

Once a bondsman put up $75,000 in bail to free Lindsay Lohan on Friday night, TMZ reports that the actress walked out of Lynwood Correctional Facility after almost five hours in custody.

The actress, 24, was sentenced earlier in the day to 120 days in jail, plus 480 hours of community service for probation violation (stemming from a 2007 DUI). In January, Lohan had just completed three months of court-ordered rehab when she allegedly walked out of a jewelry store with a pricey necklace, leading to a theft accusation and her latest legal drama.

The judge on Friday reduced Lohan's felony charge to a misdemeanor, but ordered her immediately into custody and set a trial date. The court was reportedly swayed by surveillance video, which allegedly shows a friend of Lohan's acting as a decoy to distract a boutique owner, while the actress slips on a necklace. Lohan has insisted she had permission to borrow the bling, and has blamed a forgetful stylist for neglecting to return it promptly.

Lohan left the detention facility after sundown on Friday in a black SUV, with a sheriff's vehicle escorting hers off the premises. She's due in court May 11 for a pretrial hearing (back in February, Lohan declined a plea bargain, spurring her judge to warn "this case involves jail time"). Her booking in Lynwood is reportedly the fifth time she's been processed and released there.

The community service portion of Lohan's latest sentence requires her to spend 360 hours at the Downtown Women's Center (so she can "see how needy women have to live," according to TMZ) and another 120 hours at the Los Angeles County morgue.

This is a total joke with Lohan. She gets sentenced, gets bailed out because of her atty appealing, back to court, blah, blah, blah. It's ridiculous and disgusting. This would never happen to a regular person.

This same thing has happened to a regular person. I have a young relative who is in and out of court and jail on a constant basis.This is on going for over 2 years. It is stupid, and her family is so stressed. The courts are a mess.

The judge lowered it from a felony to a misdemeanor, from what I understand because this is what would have been done with someone else. In my state, grand theft is anything over 100 dollars. Is california any different? The judge here is giving another chance to a person who has had so many chances already and has blown all of them. I don't feel sorry for her as she is now an adult and not a child and she should have the brains to know right from wrong. She should also get away from her lifestyle and get her head straight before she goes on to returning to work as an actress. She is going to end up on the sidewalk in a drug-induced seizure and die on the sidewalk just like any homeless person or junkie or alchie. Can anyone say River Phoenix? Remember him. And he had way more talent than this girl has shown so far.

Put her in jail for a few years and I'll be her guard. Think of the money I'll make from my tell all book deal. Why was the felony charged reduced? If it was me,I'd be on my way to a small cell with metal bars. Lindsay Lohan aka Skanky McLickit should be in prison!

I would love to see the sales person be required to submit to a polygraph regarding what she said and did herself. I would also like to see clear footage of the supposed theft, have a lip reader see what was actually said. The photo that I saw showed the clasp, not a necklace that was recognizable-I have clasps that look like that, several, so is there a good picture that the court is seeing or is she just being set up? In the same article the sales person said 2 different things, almost incriminating herself by changing things-now either it was a poorly written piece of journalism, or there is more to the story. One of the things said that she gave her permission to try the piece overnight. Then she said she didn't take it off when she left, implying something else. So what is the real story? Did she tell her to wear it? Stars use jewelry all the time, and clothing. They are given it to wear. I just sort of feel that there was a set up, and the employee got in trouble after the fact. I know one thing, I wouldn't shop there.

I agree more to this than normal. I know that I can go into a jewelry store and buy and piece and if I don't like it bring it back. For celebs as you said get loans on jewlery all the time.
Neil Lane is one example all loaned Jewelry. Do we really think that she was so stupid knowing a camera was on her to walk out
of that store with it on unless she had permission. I think this was either a set up or publicity for the store. It did not really appear to be a high end jeweler either. I think it was done for press......

I agree. There is also a huge trend that a lot of people who call themselves good people, tend to attack others on these websites. It never ceases to amaze me that these people are so filled with ugly hatred toward someone that they don't even know. It is a fact that stars get to borrow jewelry all of the time. The jewelry store owner even sold the video to gain money.

What a JOKE. Lindsay will never learn anything. People just keep "giving her another chance" and posting ridiculous amounts of monies in "bail". Wish I had just 1/2 of the money Lindsay has had just in "bail-out" money. I could probably pay off my bills, buy a new car & even more! I could probably buy OPRAH a new car (Ha-Ha)!

Here we go again. The rich and famous live a different life than we do. First, it is not felony for stealing a necklace,then she bails out on a probation violation charge.She does not spend one minute in jail. This really is a big joke and a slap in the face to all California residents.
