Paul Reiser's New Show Yanked by NBC After Only Two Episodes

Did you blink and miss Paul Reiser's big TV comeback on his old 'Mad About You' network? After airing just two episodes, as reported by
EW.com, NBC has pulled 'The Paul Reiser Show' off the air.
Reiser played himself on the primetime series, which premiered April 14 to less than 3.5 million viewers. It was added to the Thursday night lineup, following 'Community,' as a replacement for the recently canceled 'Perfect Couples.'
The premise was a reality-sitcom hybrid on which the chatty star conversed casually with people in his life (some real celebs, and some actors portraying his friends -- a formula that spelled success for 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'), but the final product was not well-received by critics.
Larry David and reality megaproducer Mark Burnett ('Survivor') were two of the guests who played themselves.
Reiser, 54, co-created 'Mad About You,' the NBC hit series co-starring Helen Hunt (who won four consecutive Emmys for her performance as Jamie Buchman). The sitcom ran 1992-1999 and made both of its stars household names.
The new show attempted to capture Reiser, now a very rich dad with too much time on his hands, interacting with friends and family. The former standup comic documented one of his parenting moments for
Huffington Post last year, defending Jay Leno in a piece about how he explained the
NBC vs. Conan fiasco to his befuddled son.

How can any show develop a following these days when people don't even know it is on and it does not stay on long enough for anyone to find out? I don't think it is true that people only want reality TV. They are watching reality TV because that it what is being offered. Please bring back scripted shows that use real writers and real actors and rid the world of Housewives, Kardashians, and Snookies.

If only they would get rid of all those annoying dumb chick show's,I could return to watching TV instead of keeping my mind fed intelligent stuff via my Kindle, Sad for Paul Reiser though, he deserves a good break.
Who is Paul Reiser?

......we've had enough of NY humor. Seinfeld, Reiser, Maher, Letterman, Behar, etc. they are getting old and their humor is boring.

What Maher and Behar do is not humor.
Thankfully, it ended after two tortuous, stale, rehashed jokes (not funny). I couldn't make it thru the 1st episode. At last, they are not allowing these shows to drag on. I'd rather watch an infomercial. . . .

Rehash the same old NOT funny Tv idiots, the American viewer has more options today, and dont buy into it. Stenfeld,Mad about you Etc,Etc. were Media and publicity driven so called hits. The numbers were skewed. It doesnt work today, Their ratings prove my point. GOOD Riddence!

Now will you believe that it was Helen Hunt we were watching for all those years and not you?

I didn't watch the show because of both of them. Thought they were about as funny as having a filling at the dentist.
Love Paul and Helen together!!! I'm sure they would be just as funny together as ever..now there would be a fun show to watch rather than Crime shows..giving ideas to the criminals!!!

I am not in the demographic T.V. executives are looking for but I do enjoy quality T.V. and there seems to be none left. I saw Paul Reiser's show and I personally feel not enough time was given for the show to catch an audience. Everyone seems to be addicted to reality T.V., and while I understand that it is cheaper to make, I would stress to the T.V. executives not forget the demographic that is actually buying the products for the 18-24 year olds they are attempting to reach.

It's hard to keep up with all these shows. Here today, gone tomorrow. The worst is when each episode is a continuation of the week before. Whatever happened to Millenium? Did the world end? We'll never know.

Not a fan of his anyway.

He needs a liaison to take him, too abrasive, smug. Helen was a good foil. What has he done lately? Color your gray, get the innocence back, be humble, then you may have an audience.

He needs Murray from Mad about you, now I 'd watch him!

Ahh, NBC. Great judge of talent, huh? What were they thinking? Didn't they even watch these first?

I totally agree with dc walker...the NY schtick humor is about as dated as the Catskills !
