CBS Finally Has an Exit Plan for Katie Couric

We knew it. You knew it. Even your dog knew it and now CBS is said to finally have a plan in place to say farewell to
Katie Couric at 'CBS Evening News.' Sources familiar with the exit strategy tell
The New York Times that a major announcement will be made when Couric returns from covering the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
What will they say? According to four insiders who spoke on the condition of anonymity, CBS will announce in early May that her successor at the 'Evening News' will be '60 Minutes' correspondent Scott Pelley.
Couric's contract is up June 4, but the network is said to have asked for a month extension to help ease the transition. If that proves true, that pegs Couric's last day at late June or early July at the latest.
The AP was first to report that Couric will be leaving the 'Evening News' after nearly five years on the job.
She had been expected to stay on through the 2012 elections. The New York Post reported in early April that CBS offered Couric a new contract including both a daytime talk show and a prestigious regular slot on '60 Minutes.'
In recent interviews to promote her book, 'The Best Advice I Ever Got,' Couric resisted overtures to spill the beans on her plans. During a sit-down with her former 'TODAY' co-host on April 13, Couric demurred when asked if she'd made a decision yet.
"I'm in the middle of figuring out where would be the best place for me, what would be the best job for me," she said. "I'm gonna call you as soon as I know."
Lauer tried mightily to get Katie to show her hand a bit, but being a pro, the CBS newswoman held strong. Since a syndication talk show appears to be the direction she's headed, Matt asked her what is drawing her to an independent show.
"I think what might appeal to me [in a syndicated talk show] is just the creative freedom to pick subjects. To really dig deep. To have a smart, intelligent conversation," she said. "You know me, Matt. I'm like [makes funny face] whaaaaa. That's the kind of person I am, so it might be nice to have a little more wiggle room for me to show my personality."

I agree. Very few will miss her because very few ever watched CBS evening news.
Yeah because all the idiot that drink the 'kool aid' and cant think for themselves watch that pathetic fox 'news' and all that racist trash on that socalled 'news'channel...Pathetic idiot's all of them
Right who cares. Thank God she is going to be off the air. Now if she chould get her old side kick from the morning show Matt too go wither he that would be outstanding.
Shame on you Wolfgang, katie is such a sweet person, with a great smile. Somebody ought to ask her about her adventures in high school in Alabama. That would get front page news attention. She's worthless.
A monkey in tux would do a better job. Wave bye bye Katie dids and don't look back. Find Matt Lauer and keep a goin' !!!

I always enjoyed 60 Minutes and now they are ruining it by showing her face on it. I refuse to watch her. She sure has a lot of people fooled.

Julie...i couldn't agree more! Katie has very limited intelligence but plays to a dumb crowd. I really think she's a whack job just waiting to let loose!

kettle black no she's not SARAH 'moronic' Palin and her unintelligent
flock.....
Hey, Ed...have another drink!
I would rather see Katie Couric be at Gabrielle Giffords side when the launch goes off. She can ask and then answer her own questions only because Giffords unfortunately cannot speak clearly. It will be like that scene in the movie, The Miracle Worker, when Patty Duke gets water on her hands and groans out the sound "waaaaaauh, waaaaauh." No disrespect intended but Couric has always had a tendency to go for the sensational. Remember her "Fantastic Voyage" inside her rectum? ppppishooom!

who could forget that episode of, "Voyage to See the Bottom"?
No surprise, the Gifford story is so old news it suits Couric, who traffics in tearful emotions. Never actual news. The launch is the story, not the wife of the pilot, and even that has weak legs.
Who really cares other than the "ink stained wretches" from the press. With the U.S. engaged in foreign conflicts, the economy tanking and unemployment nearing Depresssion era numbers, reading of the misadventures of these "Follywood" anti-social, overpaid malcontents does not either inform or educate. Slam the cell doors on 'em and find meaningful subjects to write about.
sorry to see you go,NOT!
