Lady Gaga's Controversial 'Judas' Video to Appear on Family Friendly 'American Idol'

From whisperings that
Lady Gaga's 'Judas' music video would push the envelope more than ever, we were more than surprised to hear that the titillating video would premiere during a live broadcast of 'American Idol, according to
MTV.
Interscope Records announced that the video would be released May 2 during the talent show and according to Gaga's creative director, Laurieann Gibson, it promises to be nothing short of "groundbreaking."
In the video, Gaga will play Mary Magdalene and actor, Norman Reedus, will play Judas. A concept that is reportedly a toned down version of the video's initial concept that was too religiously charged -- although Gaga playing the virgin Mary doesn't seem to be too much of a step back from the controversial original.
Nonetheless, every Scotty McCreery-crushing tween will undoubtedly get an eyeful of Gaga whether they [or their parents] like it or not.
Gibson, who told MTV that the video "is ultimately a representation of [she and Gaga's] true bond," said that the video is "really going to shock the world."
A few weeks ago, Gibson admitted that she initially considered
walking away from the video project because it was potentially offensive. Although the creative duo have apparently toned down the video, if it wasn't the least bit controversial, it wouldn't be Gaga.

I believe that a majority of the population is already sick of hearing about her every breath of life, Enough already!

Ummm....the writer presumably knows that Mary Magdalene and Mary the Mother of Jesus are two different people? Or am I reading that wrong...

I caught that too. You're not reading it wrong.
Also, May 2nd is a Monday. I'm thinking thats another mistake this writer made.
Um....Mary Magdalene is NOT the virgin Mary. She was actually the one that Jesus was said to heal from seven evil spirits that inhabited her body, which actually fits GaGa better. I'm just tired of people giving her the attention she is so obviously desperate for. Why can't you just make music and stop trying to shock people? Ugh.

You know, Lady Gaga does make music. It has a tune, a melody, a beat, and a rthym. Just because you don't like it, does not mean it's not music. Ask for the shock factor; David Bowie, Madonna, Boy George, Cher, Grace Jones, and Michael Jackson all performed with the shock factor. Also, if you don't like her music, don't listen to it. I can't stand Taylor Swift's or Madonna's music, but you'll never catch me going out of my way to talk crap.
Lady Gaga has enough talent to entertain without resorting to ridiculous measures such as thee. Blasphemy is not entertainment. And if this video was insulting Islam, Judaism or some other religion, it wouldn't be considered acceptable by the entertainment industry and those who listen to her music. I Have no problem with other religions, and I believe in respect and acceptance for somebody no matter what their religion is. But why is it no big deal to insult Christianity but it is to insult any other religion? I don't shove my beliefs down your throat or do anything to do, can you give my religion and it's followers the same respect? (I'm not talking about Westboro Baptist Church types) Why can't we just love each other? I'm not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, but this is where disrespect starts.

It's definitely not ok. I also don't understand why American Idol/FOX is letting it air during the show. It doesn't sound like very family friendly material to me.
Last I heard Lady Gaga wasnt christian. Blasphemy is when someone strays outside the teachings of their own faith..While considerably offensive to many, this video isnt blasphemy.
If this story is true? AI has lost their scruples.

This can also be applied to the Alejandro music video.
I just looked it up, and May 2nd isn't even a Wednesday night, its a Monday night. That's not the only mistake this writer has made either. I just don't get it. I don't like Lady GaGa, but I'm not going to go out of my way to pick her apart, or make fun of her. Or for that matter, insult her or her fans, so why must she continuously insult me. Because I feel like that's what this is. I don't care if she goes on doing the weird stuff she does, but why must she bring religion into this? Its just unnecessary.

Forget about the drag queen yesterdays news, enough already.

Sad for Idol that they must resort to putting that trash on.

She's taking a page out of the Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern book. Say anything and everything that is outrageous in order to get higher ratings and more fame. Works like a charm.

It is 2011 and in the back of everyone's mind is, "good thing it ain't Islam and the Muslims". Now that would take guts and audacity.

I never quite understood why the aspect of portraying any kind of religious figure, regardless of what you do with it, just the portrayal alone is offensive to people.

Because religious people know that their beliefs are ridiculous and are therefore easily shaken.
I think the guy from the Young Turks put it well when he said (approximately), "If someone took a dump on a copy of 'On the Origin of Species,' it wouldn't shake my belief in evolution."
