LeAnn Rimes is owning up to mistakes she made while falling in love with her now-husband Eddie Cibrian, admitting in a new special airing on the Great American Country station that she "didn't do it the right way." Two marriages went down in flames because of the affair, but even so, the singer accuses her peers in Nashville of having a double standard when it comes to good old fashioned cheatin'."[Country music] has such a double standard," she said in 'Backstory: LeAnn Rimes,' which aired Sunday, two days after she quietly married Eddie. "You know, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash and all these guys. God knows what they did back in the day. And if a woman did it, you never were accepted or forgiven. But if it was a guy, it was just their life. ... It's quite interesting to have to navigate those waters as a woman in this business."

"Double standard" would imply that men and women are sexually identical and should be expected to behave identically and be judged accordingly. As anyone with two I.Q. points to rub together could tell LeAnn, men and women are different, and different standards accordingly apply.
Think about this, LeAnn: a key that opens many different locks is an impressive key. But a lock opened by many different keys isn't worth much at all. Guess which one you are?

It really is a double standard. Her point is spot on. And why is she labeled a homewrecker? Doesn't it take TWO people to have an affair? Her new husband was equally guilty as she was. What I don't get is that these people have moved on, why can't the media. Our society is painting this very backwards.

Yea, sadly I use to be a fan of her's but she just doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut and now looks to be the one guilty of stirring up the trouble. Sound's like the typical "well he did it or she did it, so it must be ok if I do it" deflection. It's time to grow up LeAnn and take responsibility...oh, and BTW, No it's not an OK thing to do Dumb-Dumb.

While i think cheating on someone is wrong no matter who it is doing it i somehow find myself agreeing with LeAnn. Everyone is bashing them for falling in love yet i recall the same thing happening with brad pitt during his movie and it seems nobody cares how wrong that was as well. My question is why??

Because Brad didn't go around bragging about it. When did you ever see or hear Brad, Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash (RIP) brag about what they did in any interview. She said things like "Yes it was wrong but I got what I wanted so it's ok". No it's not ok she should stop talking about it and trying to make it seem like it's no big deal.
No Miss Rimes, you ARE, and always WILL BE, THE OTHER WOMAN. You are just numero DOS and that is something you will never be able to change.

Not so fast...Ms. Rimes brings it all on herself by first lying about the affair, then making what she did front page news by NOT keeping her business private - and she continues to do it by ADVERTISING what is going on in her life, THROUGH THE MEDIA! The BS meter has officially broken!
Not me. Been married to my high school sweetheart for 29 years and never crossed that line. Had many offers, but never took the bait. Why? Because I actually gave a damn about the person I married and would rather cut off a finger than hurt him in any way. LeAnn strikes me as being a cold fish and not very maternal towards kids, I hope that these two cheaters don't produce any. How can you pursue someone, knowing full well that two little boys will end up being hurt when their Mommy and Daddy are no longer together? Yes, women have a different set of double standards in society, and even though Eddie the creep is as much to blame, LeAnn should have had the good morals to not cross that line to begin with. More than one good looking man has propositioned me (both single *and* married), but I had the good sense of saying "I'm flattered, but NO THANK YOU, I'm married". Personally, I hope that the boys will detest their new stepmother.
Yeah it's the media's fault that you cheated on your ex-husband with your current husband...get over yourself. BOTH of you are guilty.
