Christina Aguilera Opens Up About Super Bowl Fumble

Christina Aguilera stopped by 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' and opened up about her infamous Super Bowl performance in a new interview airing today.

"I took in the moment a little bit too much," Aguilera said about her 'Star-Spangled Banner' fumble at the Super Bowl, adding that she's been singing that song since she was 7 or 8 years old.

"Shoot me for appreciating the moment but here I am at the Super Bowl...singing for a team and in front of the world. And remembering what it was like to be that young and look where I made it now," she said.

Aguilera said she knew she messed up, but has learned to let it go and move on.

"That night I knew, I just made myself a Trivial Pursuit question...In 2011 what female singer, ya know, flubbed the lyrics. It's just insane," she said. "But I have a really good laugh about it and you get over things. You get back up again and you just prove to yourself and to everyone you that much stronger."

During the interview, DeGeneres mentioned Aguilera's "new boyfriend" Matt Rutler, but the singer played coy.

"There is someone very lovely in my life," Aguilera told the talk show host and added that going through a divorce "is hard." She and ex-husband Jordan Bratman reached a divorce settlement earlier this year.

Aguilera, who has had a bit of a rough year so far, is hoping to turn things around with her new reality singing competition, 'The Voice,' which premieres tonight on NBC.

Sorry, but someone who can't get the words to the national anthem right, should not be judging others singing on some show. She is talented and has a nice voice, but right now she looks and acts like a mess again. She is out boozing when she has a baby and sleeping around. She is like GaGa with a huge gay following which allows her to not be criticised as much as other women. If anyone else looked and acted like she did, they would be beaten up way more.

That's exactly right!! Anyone can get a bit starstruck and mess up the lyrics, I'm sure it was an overwhelming moment. She knows the words. Trying to squeeze in 29 pitch changes in a 7 syllable lyric is what was over the top though!

THANK YOU!!! Finally, somebody besides myself who can see that the words weren't the problem...it WAS the changing of the keys; and sadly, it seems that 95 percent of the 'famous' singers DO utterly destroy our anthem by singing their own stupid interpretation of it instead of simply singing it the way it was written. In this particular case, for me, it was the worst of the worst, because she not only changed the key, and added too many extra warbles in the words, she also tried to get the deep, gravly voice and 'sex' it up. It's our National Anthem, not a lounge song for some singer to vamp up. Flubbing the words is an acceptable mistake--trying to sex up the National Anthem is inexcusable, and THAT is what she should be utterly ashamed of herself for.

What stuns me is that anyone who aspires to be a singer would hold this caterwauling screech as an example. I once ran over my cat's tail with the vacuum and I got a better sound. She couldn't hit a note if you painted a bulls eye on it and gave her a scope.
