Nicolas Cage May Be Investigated for Child Abuse

Nicolas Cage may be investigated for child abuse after he reportedly caused injury to his 5-year-old son during his drunken antics on April 15.

According to the police report obtained by TMZ, Cage's wife Alice Kim told the police the couple were arguing "due to his intoxicated state" and Cage "fell while holding their son. The fall caused the 5-year-old to suffer a minor abrasion to his left knee."

But a witness to the incident had a different version of the story. The man is reported saying he saw "Mr. Cage pull the male child to the ground by his hand."

The report states that a child abuse detective was notified and the police wanted to interview Cage's son, Kal-El, but Kim would not let them.

RadarOnline.com is reporting that the child abuse detective determined that no further investigation was merited, but noted that a representative of Child Protective Service may be contacted and an investigation could be launched.

On the night in question, the Oscar winner was reportedly "very drunk" on a New Orleans street when a taxi driver allegedly witnessed the couple quarreling loudly. The cabbie reportedly called the police when Cage pushed his wife.

Cage is said to have taunted cops into taking him into custody, repeatedly refusing their request to quietly go home and asking, "Why don't you just arrest me?" The officers ultimately obliged, charging Cage with disturbing the peace and domestic violence.

Kim reportedly denied any physical violence occurred, and said she did not wish to press charges and she also stated that "her husband was not attempting to injure her, but instead he was attempting to get her to follow him."

Reality TV star Dog the Bounty Hunter bailed out Cage by posting a bond of $11,000.

If there is even a suspicion of child abuse, the social workers should investigate. That's the way it works for others who aren't rich movie stars.

getting social services involved on a lie ??? means only problems for the kid how many kids have died at the hands of social workers ??? ALOT lol social went to duggards house in ca for years and didnt even look in back yard for the girl that was missing for 18 years even when they were told about tents outback great job social workers lol you would do well getting a job in washington with the other idiots

@ laughin@stupid, A PAROLE OFFICER went to Garrido's house. The duties of a parole officer and social worker are quite different. Had it beed social services Miss Duggard may have been found. Social services are trained to "see" diffrent things.

To laughing@stupid... I mean, I don't know about children DYING at the hands of social services, but I do believe they have too much power and act on it too hastily. A scraped knee?? Really? I would have LOVED a scraped knee over flat out spankings... (I have no problems with spanking personally but as a kid you hate them)

In this case though, I'll have to agree with jckfmsincty. The fact is, Nick was pissy drunk in the presence of his child. And that's a no no.

A skinned knee hardly sends up the red flags. It sounds to me like the wife has an agenda and wants to make trouble and get her name in the papers.

Wow, talk about a guy who's going to be in deep trouble if the movie roles ever stop being offered (he can barely cope now). As talented and established as he is this is clearly someone who is very odd and troubled psychologically (be this poarticular story true or not, Cage's long history of foibles more than suggests he's a very strange man) and simply never developed the life skills it takes to effectively deal with adversities.

Wow, what the heck happened to Cage? It used to be all about his great acting talent and now it's about his drinking. Very sad, I hope he gets help (and help picking scrips).
