Miley Cyrus to Surprise 'Idol' Contestant With Appearance Tonight

'American Idol' contestant, Lauren Alaina, whose rendition of
Miley Cyrus' 'The Climb' had some saying she sang it better than the original, will be in for quite a surprise tonight as Ms. Cyrus herself joins Alaina's team of mentors, according to
E! Online.
Cyrus is slated to appear on the talent show alongside Interscope's Jimmy Iovine to give Alaina the advice she needs to take home the 'Idol' title.
But will things be awkward between Iovine, who recently slammed the singer, and Cyrus? We don't see how they couldn't be. During one of Alaina's rehearsals with Iovine, he told the aspiring superstar that she was "a much stronger singer than Miley Cyrus."
According to E!, Iovine later regretted dissing the 18-year-old pop phenom and is personally responsible for inviting her on the show to coach the 16-year-old contestant. Although Alaina's song choice for tonight's performance is still under wraps, it has been reported that it will be a mid-tempo ballad -- a genre on which Cyrus is more than capable of sharing her words of wisdom.

We're assured of a couple of things during Cyrus' appearance: a screaming (and most likely teary-eyed) Alaina and either a total dismissal of or awkward reference to Iovine's Cyrus-dissing comments.
But what's one thing that's still up in the air? Cyrus' ensemble of course. The consistently controversial fashion hound tweeted a pic, last night, posing in a cut-out shoulder hand-me-down shirt -- "loving my new old top :) my besties mom whipped this one out of her closet from the 80s and passed it down to me :) LOVE," she
tweeted.
A possible contender for tonight's show? We'll see.

Lauren Alaina can sing circles around Miley Cyrus!
And Lauren doesn't talk in a stupid gravel-y monotone!!
Might be a nice surprise for Lauren, who I love, but I
could care less about Cyrus, who has turned out to be
scuzzy and a LOUSY role model!!!!!

I agree! Miley Cyrus to coach Lauren Alaina?? Jeez I hope Lauren doesn't listen! If she does, she might blow it!!
I'm confused about Jimmy Lovine? Who is this guy and why is he on the most popular show on tv? I've seen bad advice before but this guy takes the cake on bad advice. He seems to be really out of touch with today's youth. Possibly next year AI could find a real singer performer to give advice. I actually turn the sound down or skip through when he is on AI. The real producers always have something good to say. Positive, intelligent, and constructive. Lose this guy. He's a "high killer!"

It's a shame they don't have any reference materials on your internet, Joseph. Otherwise you might have been able to find out that Iovine has produced a couple of bands over the years. Nobody big, just U2, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Dire Straits. You know, just a few bar bands. He also introduced Eminem to Dr. Dre, but the kids today sure don't listen to them. He's also had a tiny amount of success as chairman of a tiny little indie music label called Interscope-Geffen-A&M, but I guess he really hasn't done anything to have any real music cred or anything. I mean, he sure hasn't done anything of "American Idol" quality.
I thought the surprise might be her announcement of retirement. Darn.

she had better bring her bong and enough salvia for all.

Miley Cyrus is a little drug addict! Why would any show even pick her up. What kind of role model can she be to our teens. All she can teach them is to do drugs, drink, have men paw all over you. She turned out to be a disgusting little tramp.

My little granddaughter used to watch Miley Cyrus all the time on Hannah Montana. At the time I thought she was very cute as I had seen her on other talk shows as well.
I don't think she's cute OR sweet any more!!! And I sure don't want my grandbaby looking to her as a role model!!
How is it a surprise if its here in the news?

Guess it's not a "surprise" anymore now that it's blasted all over AOL.

Yuck! I don't want to see her!

Let me decide. Should I watch American Idol or an encore of The Voice tonight?
I might give you an answer later.

DH, I hope I don't hurt Mr. Lovine's feelings. I'm certain he means well but these kids face the gallows every week. They need a pat on the back and they need someone that will listen to them. Then give advice. This isn't the 70's or 80's. The pressure on kids today is 1000 fold to be better than they even can. He certainly is an amazing creative person but needs to get in touch with his kid again.
