Details of Kate Hudson's Engagement Ring Revealed

Yesterday on the 'Today Show' Kate Hudson admitted to Matt Lauer that she was engaged to Muse rocker Matt Bellamy after he pointed out at a large rock on her ring finger.

Hudson told Lauer, "It just happened a week ago, I'm so glad you noticed. I haven't really announced it and I felt like the announcing thing feels so silly, and I was just waiting for someone to notice."

UsMagazine.com is reporting that a jewelry expert has revealed to them that Hudson's engagement ring is a platinum-set ring with an emerald-cut diamond and tapered baguettes on the side and is approximately nine carats in weight.

The estimated value of the ring is set to be $200,000.

The expert also commented on the ring significance saying, "This type of engagement ring style is classic and timeless. The emerald cut stones are typically top quality. They're usually set in platinum because it's a naturally white metal and won't cast any color onto the diamond."

No wedding date has been set and Hudson kept quiet on the proposal details, adding only that is was "very sweet, very romantic."

Hudson and Bellamy are expecting their first child together this summer. The new addition will join Hudson's son Ryder, 7, whose dad is Hudson's ex-husband, Black Crowes rocker Chris Robinson.

for a celebrity weddding ring 9 Karats isn't huge at all what so ever and neither is the price of 200,000 Liz Taylors engagement ring when she married Richard Burton the first time in 1964 was 22 Karats and 1.85 million dollars. though those two were married and divorced twice. this marriage isn't going to last he only proposed marraige so the baby wouldn't be Illigitament

Learn to spell...it's illegitimate and there is really no such thing anymore. Birth certificates do not note it. The mother's name is always her maiden name on the certificate. Unless paternity is in question, the father's name is there, too. She's getting married because she wants to get married. If she was that concerned about the baby being born while they are unmarried she would have run off to Vegas. And seriously, it's none of your business and you are not the Captain of the Morality Police. Whether the marriage lasts or not is up to them. They both have high profile lives that lead them in different directions. Who knows what the future will bring? One of us might get hit by a bus today. Kate Hudson should do what makes her happy. Wish I had a 9 karat ring...I'd just like to stare at it!!!
