Hats Off to Royal Wedding Guests

All eyes were on
Prince William and
Kate Middleton this morning as the future King and Queen of England exchanged vows at Westminster Abbey. But a few guests stole the couple's spotlight even if only for a moment.
The Royal Wedding has been touted as the "
biggest fashion show on earth," and from the looks of it, every attendee took their invite as a chance to channel their inner fashionista. While Middleton stunned in a dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, gorgeous hats of all shapes and sizes sat perched on heads as far as the eye could see.
With a
gushing husband,
David Beckham at her side,
Victoria Beckham wore one of her own designs, altering it to accommodate her growing baby bump and matched the charcoal frock with a pillbox hat by designer, Philip Treacy.
Beckham wasn't the only guest to accessorize her outfit with a hat by the London milliner.
Best known for his ready to wear hats and couture handbags, Treacy was the designer of choice for fabulous hats. Princesses Beatrice, 22, and Eugenie, 21, (cousins to Prince William and Prince Harry and daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson) also wore creations by Treacy.
Although the designer hails from Galway, Ireland, his name should ring a bell with Americans. Treacy has designed hats for the 'Harry Potter' films and most notably, Sarah Jessica Parker's hat for the premiere of 'Sex and the City' in 2008.

god, those hats sitting on the front of the head look stupid.

Princess Beatrice's hat looks like it is the 5th ring of hell.

Looking at all of the hats was fascinating. As I look around my apartment, all I can think of is that if there's a way to attach just about anything I see to the top of someone's head, you'd have something just as fashionable.

Is Princess Beatrice really, really trying to look stupid? If so, she is succeeding.

Can anyone tell me what's the difference between a hat and a fascinator?

The BRIDES DRESS was BORINGGGGGG... AND THE tiara was BORINGGGGGG... both were sleepers... I expected more. I got the princess GRACE theme but something was offfff. I think FERGIES daughters dressed ridiculous on purpose on moms request. They both look like clowns.

You're the one that's boring!!! Kate's wedding gown and everything about Kate and this wedding was stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WRONG!!!!
Kate looked absolutely stunning in her very simple but elegant wedding gown and veil with the tiara. So much better than a lot of frou frou, bows, etc.
As far as the hats on the guests, some of them including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were absolutely ugly. Queen Elizabeth, Mrs. Middleton and even Camilla (who I dislike) had nice simple and lovely hats.
I think they all look great. Truly individuals. Whether you like them or not, they certainly show they can take a risk.

Sorry - Fergie's girls look hideous! Especially the one in beige. I have to say Camilla looked beautiful. As much as I loved Diana, I am glad Camilla was finally accepted by the Royals. It should be about happiness. Diana should have been happy too and if she lived I think she would have found her true love. Charles is happy and that should count for something. The wedding was beautiful and went off perfectly.

Fergie's girls had on too much makeup! They need to tone it down! They both are supposed to be a Princess, right?
I only wish Diana was here to she the wedding and I would have loved to see her hat she would wear

THE ENGLISH HAVE THEIR TRADITIONS WITH THE HAT. I DID LOVE KATE'S WEDDING DRESS AND VAIL. SHOWS SHE HAS SIMPLE BUT ELEGANT TASTE. THE WEDDING WAS GREAT. EVERYONE IS RIGHT ABOUT FERGIE'S GIRLS, THEY REALLY WANTED ATTENTION WITH THOSE HATS.

I know that Diana was watching with pride from Heaven! How proud she must have been. Kate was beautiful yet simple and I think that will speak of her respectful style. I like her already. Pricess Beatrice and Eugeanie looked like they were going to the circus, not a wedding. Must have been some kind of "payback" for not allowing her mom to attend which I think was wrong. Yes, she made mistakes, but what about when HER daughters get married? Is she going to be banned again then? I think she would have behaved just fine during the wedding. But hey, it was their choice who to invite. I also think it was kind of "tacky" not to invite the President of the United States and his wife. That wasn't just a snub to them, but a snub to the United States. I wish William and Kate a long and happy life. I think they did a great thing under the eye of a long "show" and numerous rehersals.

Presidenst and heads of state were not invited by the couple or the royal family. This was not a state affair. President Obama will be on a state visit to London in May. Don't you think five thousand police had enough security to deal with without national figureheads? The Obamas will be in the tornado-thrashed South, in Alabama tomorrow. That's a more pertinent destination.
The BRIDE had a HAT parade of female family and female friends ect... Her TIARA should of been bolder and stand higher...Not almost dissappear in her hair. She's the STAR of the event. The VEIL should of been longer to match the lenth of the train when your dress train has NO design but plain material for a cathedral wedding.
