After their historic wedding inside Westminster Abbey Friday morning, the newly named Duke and Duchess of Cambridge fulfilled royal obligations (photos, kisses, waving). Then, they had a party to attend!
Now, details are emerging from the festivities about the music, menu and other special touches.
About 300 of the couple's family and friends were invited to the evening reception that was hosted by Prince Charles inside Buckingham Palace, according to Us. And with her groom in a dapper tux, newlywed Kate Middleton changed from her lacy wedding dress and veil into another Sarah Burton gown and sweater.
Prince Harry's remarks were a highlight during the black-tie affair; Prince William's brother reportedly delivered a tasteful tribute to the new couple, free of embarrassing wisecracks -- and made mention of their late mother, Princess Diana, who died when the groom was 15. An insider reports that Harry told guests how much of Diana he sees in his older brother. The bride was said to be moved to tears.
For William and Kate's first dance, they were serenaded with a cover of Sir Elton John's 'Your Song,' performed by rising British pop singer Ellie Goulding.
Goulding, 24, was the only artist invited to perform live at the wedding reception -- the couple are reportedly big fans of her 2010 album, 'Lights.' She followed up 'Your Song' with her own single, 'Starry Eyed.' Check out Goulding's sound in the clips below (and tune in to see her as the musical guest when Tina Fey hosts the next 'Saturday Night Live').
What did chefs feed the dazzling crowd? Crab, beef, chocolate pudding, and ice cream were on the menu. And as a souvenir, each guest went home when the party ended at 2 a.m. with a pair of cupcakes, boxed up with the couple's official engagement photo. The late-night treats were custom-packaged by Cake Kit Company, a provider of wedding favors owned by Kate Middleton's brother, James.
As a finale, fireworks began while carriages drove guests off the palace grounds.
anyone please explain what does it mean: the newly named Duke and Duchess of Cambridge fulfilled royal obligations. What is his role? Will he even be a king?
They 'fulfilled royal obligations, kisses, photos, waves'. It means they did the obligatory kiss on the balcony, they did the official photoshoot and they waved to the crowds.
Snoopy, Actually we consrvatives think in terms of people, not governments, much less tyrants, so,no,we wouldn't favor an absolute monarchy. We do,however, have to endure the judicial oligarchy that liberals such as you have foisted upon us.Britain gave the world it's first modern democracy through parlimentary government and have done well with it,queen and all.
Really, is the generalized labeling/name-calling necessary? You don't personally know anybody on this blog.
Why do some people use a blog about something pleasant and turn it into a soapbox for their pointed own stand on things? It's like you're saying, "Look at me, look at me!"
You fling words around like little darts, jabbing people you don't even know.
Tell me, you self-named yourself a 'Conservative' - Do you think that in itself might be the problem?
You sound so...frustrated...if you know what I mean.
I like Leann Rimes music, i've like her songs since the beiginning of her career but i have to say her attitude on marriage has something to be desired. Her other marriage may have been sour but if that were the case maybe she should have divorced the guy first then go lookin for hubby number 2 is all im saying. Nope im not a authority on marriage and i'm defiantely not saint in any means. I just hope this time around her marriage as well as others out there reading this will use more tact if things get bad in their relationship, They have people , marriage councelors ect that can help but the best help anyone can have is God !
Im happy that this young lad amrried but find it sooooooo ridiculous that the Monarch spent 65 millinon dollas on this wedding. And it was the people that paid for these ridiculous weddings which end up in divorces in the long run. What a way to throw peoples maney away. Its sick!!!! Sorry. Im against it.
did anyone see the hats (I guess you could call them hats) that Fergie and Andrews girls had on? I have a trash can lid that would have looked better. It also looks like one of them might want to consider weight watchers like their mother did.
Yes, this article is about Harry talking about their wonderful/beatiful/graceful/people's princess, irreplaceable Lady Di. If not for that woman who has no place in that event and infedility she would have been alive and a stunning/regal beauty of the event. The boys love their mum and misses her. May God bless them and may the duke and duchess live happily ever after...
Nita....you haven't a clue. The boys' attitude toward The Duchess of Cornwall show the deep affection and regard in which they hold her. William was best man at his Father's wedding. Diana was no saint, and dare I say that had she been home with her young sons that it is highly possible that she would have been alive to see William married? I realize that to many of you that statement is almost sacrareligious, but SHE decided Charles was for her, even though he was dating her sister at the time. Charles was forced into the marriage becaue of archaic ideas and rules. Diana was fully aware that it is not unusual for European men to have mistresses. If you have never been desperately in love with someone with whom you could not be, there is no way you can understand the situation. While true that Charles had an affair with Camilla, Diana had multiple affairs, and was so indiscreet that Harry's paternity has been questioned, as awful (and untrue) as that is for Charles and HArry. It is wonderful to see Prince Charles happy with his Duchess. We have absolutely no way of knowing everything, nor do we need to know. Neither of them behaved wonderfully, but Diana pretty much ran the show after their divorce, and did great damage, quite deliberately, to the monarchy, even though it was the future of her sons. I cried with the resst of the world when she died, but is time to stop making villians of Charles and Camilla, and putting it to rest. Charles, with Camilla's help, I am sure, has done a magnificent job with the young princes since Diana's death, and quite frankly, that is ALL that matters. As adults, we get to choose, those boys did not, and having grown up without a mother, I can promise you that see glamorous photos of their mother did not take the place of having her home with them.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

Pudding in England is sort of a dense cake and can be sweet or savory and there are a ton of recipies and variations.

I loved the hats! It was like watching a living sculpture garden.

If Harry made Kate cry, it must have been one of his hilarious jokes--it appears he's quite the clown!

You must have just read the headline and not the story. Kate was led to tears by the NICE things Harry said. He did not crack one joke.
