Cher Admires Son Chaz Bono's Courage for Sharing His Personal Journey

It looks like Cher has finally accepted her son Chaz Bono's gender change.

PEOPLE is reporting that Cher held a private screening of the documentary 'Becoming Chaz' at her Malibu home over the weekend.

In the documentary, Chaz's story about his transformation from a woman to a man is told and it is scheduled to premier on Oprah's OWN Network next week.

A friend of Cher is quoted saying, "Cher and 10 of her and Chaz's friends stood up and cheered when it was over,"

The friend also quotes Cher, who told her during the screening, "I admire my son Chaz's courage for sharing his personal journey. Most important to me is that he is very happy. That's what I care about the most. He has my love and support."

Bono was born Chastity Bono to the famed singing duo of Sonny and Cher.

Bono started a female-to-male gender-reassignment surgery in 2009 and legally became a man after a Santa Monica judge granted Bono's request to change his name from Chastity to Chaz and to switch his gender identification to male in 2010.

Cher has had some trouble accepting Chaz's gender change to a man and openly talked the issues she was having in an interview with Vanity Fair last year. "If I woke up tomorrow in a guy's body, I would just kick and scream and cry and f****ing rob a bank, because I cannot see myself as anything but who I am -- a girl. I would not take it as well as Chaz has. I couldn't imagine it," she says.

Cher even mixes up his gender in casual conversations. "Well, she's a very smart girl -- boy! This is where I get into trouble. My pronouns are f***ed. I still don't remember to call her 'him,'" she admitted.

Bono, 42, has been in a long-term relationship with girlfriend Jennifer Elia.

Have you ever notice how beautiful people like Cher, tend to have ugly children like Chasity? And to make matters worse in her case, she turns her self into a man. She wasen't satisfied enouf with just being ugly, she had to go and turn her self into a man and make her self evean uglier. I don't get it LOL.

I agree, obviously there are still "issues" or he wouldn't be that fat. Dangerously fat. Most people who are that heavy have other problems that they haven't dealt with. So your a man now, now get further counseling, and quit eating so much and get some fresh air and exercise.

OH YES,but wasnt she the most beautful INDIAN GODDESS you ever seen?
